I've actually posted about this before and people were helpful, but I've run into a wall. I know I'm being a bit over-the-top with my budget obsession but I need to know what the prices are at California Wow/Fitness for Bikram yoga. I emailed the manager of the gym in Gangnam who went to the effort of writing me a lengthy response, but he wouldn't give me any prices as this wasn't his area - and the guy's a way-gook! I wrote back to tell him to get off his ass and find out for me. He wrote back saying that it was Korean salespeople that deal with these matters and "sorry that I was disappointed in him" and the effing second message was longer than the first.
Soooo...do any of you computer nerds practice yoga? Been to this fitness club? Know any prices? It's kind of pathetic that writing directly to the manager of a place gets you nothing. |

Buy a mat (make a seperate thread on the forum to find where you can get the cheapest), roll around on it, breath deeply.

Typical. Those places have different prices for everyone. If you tell them you're a student, they'll offer a lower price. Tell them you have your own business, they'll try to sell you on a lifetime membership for thousands of dollars. Everything is negotiable.
While there, I got offered a 2 year membership for around 1.7 million won. My friend joined there when he was a student at Yonsei and managed to pay something like 90,000 monthly with no initiation. This is for the health club. Not the yoga part.
What I did was I bought a 3 year prepaid membership at 24 Hour Fitness for $600 + sales tax. Then I returned here and transferred it over to California Wow. They tried to tell me I could only get a free membership for one month but I have an e-mail from 24 Hour Fitness saying they are obligated to give me a free membership until my 24 membership expires. After showing the e-mail, they agreed.
While there, I asked how much a membership would be if my cousin wanted to join. He said he could do it for 70,000 won a month.
Things always change and what price they offer you depends on what your occupation is, how long you're planning on staying and other variables. Everything is negotiable, though. |

| Again, thanks for the help. This board is consistently reliable for two things: people going out of their way to help you out with really detailed, "been there" advice; and horrible, petty, misanthropic (often sexist and racist too!) dorks who constantly try to inflame innocent posters while accusing EVERYBODY ELSE of being "trolls". |

This is mostly true. However, you have to admit that the "buy a mat and roll around on it" comment was still pretty funny. |

| It wasn't even this guy who set me off. He wasn't exactly being friendly and, no, his joke didn't really do it for me, but he was mild. I was prompted by some of the other nastiness I read. Sometimes native English speakers in Korea creep me out, y'know? Like, who could be more of a troll than someone who posts on this site literally HUNDREDS of times and relishes getting into arguments with ANYBODY. Like that Gene Wilder-loving clown. Well, I love Gene Wilder too - that's beside the point. But who is more a troll more than a troglodyte? |
