I thought I would start a thread looking for some collective free association.

Throw out your current thoughts, regardless of the subject. I am suffering from ennui, and your ideas could bring joy to me and others. Or not. Give it a try.

Just now I was thinking about how I should start jogging, but that I live in Seoul and that it would probably be counter-productive due the air pollution. And those masks that wrap around the ears probably wouldn't help for shit.

Camp planning, bad.
Cheesecake, good.

The Challenge

Day 1: Count the number of times you complain in a 24 hour period.

Day 2: Don't complain about anything for 24 hours, but pay attention to how much people complain.

Day 3 and beyond: Don't complain. Be thankful.

From Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies:

Quote:
Make an exhaustive list of everything you might do and do the last thing on the list

Change specifics to ambiguities

Remove ambiguities and convert to specifics

Overtly resist change

What context would look right?

Shut the door and listen from outside

Be less critical more often

Look closely at the most embarrassing details and amplify them

Imagine it as a set of disconnected events

Once the search has begun, something will be found

What is the reality of the situation?

Where is the edge?

Your mistake was a hidden intention

From nothing to more than nothing

Back up a few steps. What else could you have done?

Are there sections? Consider transitions

Remember quiet evenings

(Organic) machinery

Humanize something free of error

Use an unacceptable colour

Ask your body

Is it finished?

Change nothing and continue consistently

Trust in the you of now

What would your closest friend do?

Is there something missing?

Be extravagant

State the problem in words as clearly as possible

Don't be frightened of cliches

Tape your mouth

Listen to the quiet voice

What to increase? What to reduce? What to maintain?

Magnify the most difficult details

Use cliches

Emphasize repetitions

What would make this really successful?

What mistakes did you make last time?

Is it wrong to find so many people irritating, repulsive, dull or uptight?

Also, should I open the Christmas present that arrived this morning now or on Christmas Day?

Don't open it. Go outside and give it to the 2nd person that walks by.
