Once the visa issuance number is applied for/obtained it is good for 90 days.
During that time, immigration may refuse to grant another number.
After that time you will be required to start all over again applying for a new number. So yes the longest you should have to wait is 90 days.
If your new/different employer is at a different immigration district they may waive the 90 day wait and process a new number anyway.
At any rate, you will have to wait until you get your diploma back (unless you have a spare copy). The other documents (like transcripts and CRC/medical) are gone and you will have to send new ones to apply with a different employer.

I was under the impression that you could also cancel/apply for a new one if you get your current employer (almost employer) to agree to it.
Anyone care to clarify? |

| i'm confused, i gave my employer the documents, soon i'll get a visa issue number, but i don't want to be with this school, and i didnt get a stamp in my passport, so can i just give my docs to another school and apply for a new number? or do i have to wait 90 days to the old number expires, can't immigration deny me? |

If an employer has applied for a visa confirmation number (and it gets approved) you will probably have to wait the 90 days until it expires before immigration will accept a new application to issue a new number for a different employer.

It goes back to the hard copy - blue paper that most of you don't get/see anymore - it says on it that the expiry is 90 days from date of issue.
The same is true of the visa. If you get the visa in your passport and DO NOT ENTER Korean within 90 days it will expire and you will need to get a new one.
The only release is if the old employer goes in and cancels their application for your visa confirmation number. Not much chance of that happening.
The only other option is try applying in a different district. They MAY (at their discretion) ignore the initial application and confirmation number and give you a new number OR you can get a new passport with a new number and try again.
You don't have to take my word for it. YOu can apply as you wish (with the expected incurred costs) but if/when you are declined, you will at least know why.
