Has anybody actually gone for a renewal yet?
It must be coming up to the time where all the feb/march hires are meant to be trundling down to the immigration office to be stamped.
Was it a success or a failure?
We've read so much about people getting documents together but haven't seen anything so far of people getting the elusive extension. |

Yeah, was fairly painless. I won't be going through all the CRC stuff to get a new visa though, so this could be my last stint. Perhaps it's a sign.. time to escape the esl-game! |

there was a post about this earlier, before march 15th, it appears to be entirely painless and easy. None of the new requirements affect people renewing now. |

My school called immigration two weeks ago, and they said that the renewal of teachers will be no different until March 15. Our contracts must be renewed before Feb. 28, so I'm not worried. |

Yes. I went to the Jong-ro immigration office and changed schools and extended my visa for another year. It cost 90,000 won and took a week and a half to process. Painless. |

Ok so it's fine and easy to renew before March 15th.
I would love a summary of what needs doing after March 15th. I've read so much stuff I'm confused.
If renewing AFTER March 15th do you have to return home for a medical AND do one in Korea upon returning?
If you have a copy of CRC from just before the current contract do you still have to get another one even if you have been in Korea since you obtained the current CRC?
People from the UK, how do you go about notarizing your degree certificates? |

I renewed a couple of weeks ago. In and out within 20 minutes (Mok-dong) with no new forms or any hassles.
I'm counting on the rest of you to raise a rucus during the next 11 months so that things are straightened out by next January. |

I was under the impression that only those renewing with the same school would be exempt from the new regulations. |

Just got done posting this on another thread, but what the heck.
Korea Immigration Service website, Q&A board, response to question #1673 "Keep same E-2 but change jobs":
Quote: |
welcome to the korea immigration service website.
as you know through press release,
the changed new regulation of E2visa take effect on December 15, 2007.
but, the Korea Immigration Service has granted in Korea three months grace periods for the E-2 teaching visa holders to prepare the criminal record checks.
so until march 15th, 2008, E-2visa holder who want to extension of residence with the same employer or change working place(after finished more than 10months of contract and agreement with the previous employer)don't need the criminal record check and health check.
in your case, your contract will ends at the end of febuary and you get a new job.
there is two ways.
first, with release agreement(contain change another institute or school), you can apply for change working place before period of stay at the immigration office without submitting the criminal record check, medical check.
second, if you apply for certificate of new E2visa issuance to change working place at the immigration office(visa run), you should submit the criminal record check.
thank you. |
