So far there are no changes. I only bring it up because over the last two months or so I've read a variety of reports on when the new regulations will begin, ranging from December 1st, to the 15th, to sometime in the new year. As of two weeks ago absolutely nothing different was required (I speak only for the US). I got mine with the same consulate certified copy of my diploma I used last year, no health report, no CRC, no interview, and without a visit in person to the consulate.
Did I get lucky? Beats me. I crossed my fingers and sent my materials to a recruiter about three weeks ago, got my visa number exactly one week ago, immediately sent it on to the consulate nearest me and got my passport back with a sparkling Korean visa in it today. When exactly Korean immigration received my application from the recruiter, and how long it took them to process, I don't know. It seems safe to say that at least two weeks ago some immigration offices were still processing E2s the old way, and all the while, no mention has been made by the recruiter or my future school about the changes in the offing. No warnings about the need for a CRC from my home country, my original diploma, nothing. I'm coming prepared though.
For people planning on coming to Korea, don't recklessly rush into anything, but if you've done your research and you're serious about it, do it now. |
