Sorry if this is a double post... I can't find an original anywhere. Not doing too well with this site so far (computers generally hate me)... is anyone else consantly having their user name/password rejected (more often by the Czech Republic forum) despite knowing their imputing it correctly?

Anyway, I have a friend of Chinese citizenship... she speaks perfect English with no accent (actually she grew up partly in England, and has a slight English accent), is TEFL certified, and has been teaching in Thailand for two years. She wants to move here. Is there any way with a Chinese citizenship (legitimately or illegitimately)? If it doesn't work for the visa, think a hogwon might take her???

Unless she is also a citizen of the UK, US, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa and possesses a passport from one of those countries she cannot legally teach English in Korea.

Immigration is upping the penalties for illegal teachers and the businesses that employ them.

There will probably still be hagwans that will hire her but not as many as before.

If she speaks good English, yes some place will take her, but she will be working illegally which isn't recommended. She can blend in easy though..... Does she speak any Korean? If she does it will help her land English jobs.....

If she can still speak Chinese she can get a job at a University or Hogwan teaching Chinese.

And earn half what she could earn teaching English?

How can she legally teach English if her citizenship is Chinese. She could teach English and Chinese by doing privates. But she better not get caught teaching privates.
My wife is in the same boat as she is by being a Chinese citizen who can speak perfect English.

EVERYONE in the world has an accent.

Often people say they do not have an accent but that is impossible. They do have an accent, but they just do not notice their own accent because they are so used to it.

But if a person goes to a place where the locals have a different accent than that person, such as a foreign country, or another part of their own country, the locals will say that that person has an accent, but they, the locals, do not.

But of course these locals are incorect as they too have an accent. They just do not notice it because they are so used to it.

Everyone in the world has an accent.

Cool
