|
|
Hi guys, I know there are other threads about car service, but the search function is crapping out on me (I click search and I only get redirected to white screen, lol.)
Where is a good mechanic that is knowledgable is speaks decent English. I live in Mokdong, but don't mind driving anywhere in the city. I prefer a high quality shop that won't rip me off. I'm having some trouble with the cooling system on my car...
I want to install a pair of side markers (turn signals) on my car, does anybody know a good shop that will do this? Also, what about other custom electronics stuff.
Also, is there an Autozone or a similar auto parts retailer for a whole bunch of small DIY jobs I got lined up?
Thanks everybody! |

cooling system .. what wrong with the cooling system?
is it leaking water, not cooling down etc?
a few checks you can do yourself...
- check if there is enough water/coolant in the radiator, check for any leaks in the hoses
- run the engine with the radiator cap off, if you see tiny bubbles then it could be the head gasket is blown, to confirm you can pull out the sparkplugs and see if the ends are "sooty" and not clean
sometimes it could be just the thermostat that's gone faulty... to replace you need some tools
Depends on what tools you have installing turn signals are not that hard... and wiring is not that hard either... just tap into the existing connections. there are only 2 wires + or -
Hope this helps.... to be more informed before you go into a shop... |

Figured out the stuff about the turn signals. Seems simple enough.
As far as the cooling system, the engine doesn't heat up, and I don't have hot air coming into the cabin either. There seems to be some problem with the circulation of the coolant. Tried replacing the thermostat to make sure that it wasn't stuck open, but that didn't fix it... |

the engine/radiator get warm (by touching it) but the there is no cabin heat... There should be 2 hoses(inlet and outlet) that supply the cabin heater with the heated water. either they are blocked or the switch that controls the valve is not opening to allow the circulation.
- check the heater fuse
- see you can disconnect the 2 heater hoses and force some water into the inlet and see if it comes out the outlet.
- not knowing exactly what kind of car, it's a bit difficult for me to troubleshoot.
Also there is sometimes a heater element in the cabin, you have to find it underneath where the air vents are for the feet.... these heater elements are usually used as a booster during cold starts..
i mainly play with old cars, mostly mechanical parts. much easier to fix. electronic parts sometimes get very tricky and time consuming. |

The heater core could be blocked, but it will be a bitch to get to. |

Sorry to hijack, I am also looking for simple things like an inside light bulb, and one of those 250mA glass fuses for the ciarette lighter power cord.
Is there an online parts store for simple consumables? |

Nobbyken,
Any off-line shop will sell what you are after. On-line shops will be useless to you, cos the parts you want are penny parts, and I assume you only need 1 or 2off, the postage will be 4x the part cost. |
