Hi.Going to be doing a year's contract in Korea for EPIK, but due to all the rigmarole of bureaucratic requirements(getting even stricter soon), I'm thinking that, instead of staying in Korea for another year once this contract's done, I might try for a job in the UAE.How much easier is it from a bureaucracy standpoint, as well as financially, to work in UAE, and can u work there for a decent income if u have a BA + CELTA, or only MA?Also, taking my wife and daughter-are the United Arab Emirates safe? Thanks! |

You should have posted this on the UAE board. If you posted it there I'm sure you'd find out that without a MA you'd be hard-pressed to get a decent paying job there and that it's extremely safe (excluding the traffic of course ) BTW if you think Korean bureaucracy is bad you should go to the ME to appreciate how efficient Korean bureaucracy is |

In any regard, I think one should make no secret about why you're leaving to your employer. Don't be rude but a simple polite "I'm just finding it increasingly difficult to deal with all the last minute government rule changes and the uncertainty. I'm never sure from month to month if even simple banking functions will be restricted because I'm a foreigner. I know it's not your fault, but the climate here for foreigners is taking a big step back." |
