With a massive shortfall in ESL teachers expected, what did you honestly expect when you posted your resume?
500 or so licenced recruiters alone in S.Korea. Add in the recruiters from other countries who are in direct competition for the English speaking teachers and what did you expect?
5000 unfilled jobs in Korea and an anticipated need for close to 5000 more in Taiwan and Japan (unfilled positions) then add in an expected demand for some 50,000 more ESL teachers in China.
Why are you surprised?

| I recommend to anybody who posts their resume here to use an alternate email address. You will definitely get a lot of unwanted mail. |

Those spam emails can actually help. During my first week of searching for a job, I got so many emails I didn't know which were from spammers and which were from real honest recruiters who read my resume. After a couple weeks, you will see a trail the spammers leave behind. The ones who actually read your resume won't contact you again or out of the blue.

I was thinking of camping out at Joetsu University in Japan until they let me in lol. You might want to try that with your school of choice.
I guess it is a matter of knowing someone who knows someone who once knew someone who is leaving who now works at the university you could work at.
A friend in Japan has a job like that, and he seems really happy. He gets like 3-4 months paid vacation time. However, it is very hectic during the other 8 months. |
