So how do you usually pay for your last month's worth of utilities, cable/internet, phone, electricity? |

That's a real question as I am about to face this problem very shortly myself. I have read posts in the past state that you or your director requests to have the meters read and pay the bill. I guess it would be no different than a Korean moving out of an apartment in the middle of a billing cycle, except we need the bill made and paid in a very short of amount of time while they might receive their final bills at their new residence.
Often, directors forget about this and the leaving teacher leaves bills that are charged to the new teacher which is not right. I jumped up and down about being charged for the previous teachers unpaid phone, gas, and electric bills and then was not charged for it. I was like, it's a loss and should not be my responsibility since you didn't ensure these matters were taken care of on his final pay day.
I am still not sure how they make final bills at a moments notice. |

First, it depends on who's name are on all of the bills. I have generally gotten help from the school and insisted that they call the gas, power, cable and internet company and coordinate shutting them off and finding out the final amount. Now that I'm married, it's different. If your name is on the bill, I would advice taking responsiblity for it and finding someone you trust to help you so you indeed know it was taken care of and done correctly. |

Yep, you have to call all the utitlites you are registered with. Things like phone, cable, internet will cut it off and either come by (like to pick up the cable box) and collect money or take it out of your bank the day it's cut off. Gas/Electric/Gwanribi is taken care of at your apt management office. I think you have to call the gas company ahead of time so they can read it, but the gwanribi can be calculated by teh buliding manager guy. |
