D-Train and Cabrera.

Oh Hells Yeah! Razz

Couldn't wipe the smile off my face today after hearing about the trade. I'm VERY excited to be going home for a bit this summer now.

VERY excited.

Never expected this trade at all. I actually thought the Tigers were finished making moves this off-season. I know they had thought about going after Willis, but didn't know they wanted to bring Cabrera over as well. They made the right move giving up Maybin and Miller.

This definitely make the Tigers the front runners in the AL unless the Red Sox land Santana.

LET'S GO TIGERS!!!!!!

Congrats. That lineup's scary.

Miggy may be a fat little 24-year-old, but dude is the next Manny.

This trade blew me away...I had heard rumblings that the T's might be interested in Dontrelle, but Cabrera floored me. If they can stay healthy, the Tigers are going to be monsters in the AL next season.
There are two things about this trade that I don't like though. First, it means that the Tigers will *probably* trade Inge. I've always been a big fan of Inge, so it'll suck to see him go. Secondly, the Tigers are giving up alot in prospects for this trade, although with Both Willis and Cabrera being in the mid 20's, that might not be so awful.
Regardles, I'm so stoked that I live on the border with Detroit and I'll be able to see a few games when my sentence here is finished!

I'm not so sure the Tigers will trade Inge. He can play multiple positions and he's been getting better as a hitter every year. Heck, since the Tigers traded their backup catcher, maybe Inge will move back to being a catcher. Pudge won't be catcher forever.

My question is, what's gonna happen to Casey? Didn't they just sign him to a new contract? And why the heck did they resign that crap closer Jones?

Jones got re-signed because Zumaya messed up his shoulder helping his dad save his things from the wild fires in Cali a couple months back.. Will be out half the season at least...

I think Inge will be kept as well... Tigers are trying to win the Series and only have a 2-year window to do so with the current roster (1 with Pudge).. of course, if we can get a quality reliever for him, all bets are off..

Apparently Windsor was in full Tigers mode this summer (I missed it).. My dad said it hadn't been that way since the early 80's.. Tigers fever is definitely back...

It's funny.. the NHL salary cap made Ilitch spend his millions elsewhere.. So it the Tigers do win it all, Gary Bettman should get some props.

I lived in Windsor before coming here, and I can remember when going to a Tiger's game was cheap, with almost nobody in the stands. From what people back home told me, once they started in on their run, it was crazy trying to get tickets (which obviously makes sense). It's great to see that people are following the T's again, although I hate the amount of bandwagon jumpers that have come out since then.
That aside and getting back to the trade, I've noticed that alot of people are saying that the T's probably won't trade Inge. I'm not so sure about that. They obviously have to switch his position around, but besides that, the Tigers gave up alot in the way of prospects/draft picks for Willis/Cabrera and trading Inge might get them a few draft considerations back. It all depends on what the Tigers mindset it. Do they want to win a title this year or are they trying to build a contender for this year and beyond?
Either way, it's a great time to be a Tiger fan, and now with the Pistons, Tigers and Red Wings tearing it up, it's an awesome time to be a fan of Detroit sports (if only the damned Lions could carry their share)

That seems to always be the case for Detroit.

The Lions are cursed!

Sources: Tigers willing to trade Willis

Mets sources believe the Tigers may look to flip Dontrelle Willis, who they just got from the Marlins because of payroll limitations. The Mets would be interested in speaking with the Tigers, but no dialogue is believed to have occurred yet. It is believed the Marlins may have insisted the Tigers take on both their arbitration-eligible players, Willis and third baseman Miguel Cabrera. The Tigers acquired both players knowing they couldn't afford both, and may be looking to replenish their farm system by flipping Willis.

Here's hoping he stays..

I hope he stays too. It would be weird if the Tigers picked him up just to flip him to someone else, although it will give them more back in the ways of picks (something that the Tigers are going to be woefully short of in future).
If they do trade him, I hope they hold off for awhile. I'd like to be able to gloat about this deal for a few days anyway Wink

i was so envious when i saw this... if only the angels could have pulled the trigger sooner... but the tigers pulled cabs and d-train... amazing... and i don't think we'll ever hear about who they gave up... especially if the tigers win the series next year... although... if the sox get yohan, forget about it.
