Hi there,

hoping you can recommend some music for me.

I want something for the gym, because for part of it I like to just sit and read while on the exercycle thingies, but I can't currently concentrate because of the Korean music pounding away in the background.

I want something I can play through my newly bought Ipod, but I don't want upbeat pounding stuff, I want relaxing/calming stuff so that I can still read without being distracted.

So if you can help me out with the names of some music (maybe orchestral/classical?) that may work in this situation.

- I am not really meaning anything 'new-age-y' or dolphin noises etc - I know already I can't stand that stuff.

But I would be keen to hear other suggestions.
Thanks

if you are using limewire just type in lounge, or groove beats etc..

some names off the top of my head..

BUddha grooves
erotic lounge series
Dubai chill
coffeebar and lounge
Miguel migs

or if you want some house just try HED KANDI
they have alot of variety

it all really depends on your taste dude..

why not list some tracks or artists you currently like.. that way I might have a better idea of what you might like..

as I have 200GIGS of music and keep it because I like it..

I like alot of different stuff, all depends on my moods..

Good series for chilling out to:

Buddha Bar by Claude Challe

Nirvana Lounge by Claude Challe & Ravin

(Claude Challe is a music producer and DJ of Tunisian descent who lives in Paris)

Also check out the following:

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto (daughter of Joao Gilberto)

Shoki Shoki by Femi Kuti (son of Fela Kuti)

Alma Alma by Yulduz Usmanova (pop singer from Uzbekistan)

A lot of these are not in English but it beats the heck out of 10,000 versions of "Maria".

check this thread if you want music that is good for drowning out the K-pop stuff that is played as the Musack in some places.

That's why I started the thread, as my problem is I don't really 'like' anything. I don't listen to anything at all, Korea does my head in some days with all the noise, and when I get home I generally like silence. I sometimes listen to an online radio station, but not often.

I own exactly 3 CDs, all of which were gifts, and I don't even know where they are anymore...

oh sorry just read that you wanted really quit stuff, the thread I linked to earlier is the exact opposite of quiet.

What about some of the classical stuff set with nature sounds added in. Like the naturescape mood music. A classical track with babbling brooks, rippling streams, ocean waves that kind of stuff.
