I am not talking about general terms, I am talking about how do you know when someone is attractive? What do you look for and what do you look at to determine if a person is attractive in your eyes?

I know most people would say "It is not the outside that matters, but the inside.." which is b/s is todays hedonistic and materialistic world.

So what do you look for?

sexiness certainly isn't on the inside...ewww

But you can't really answer that, as everyone have rather different tastes. I know what I find damn hot many of my friends don't, and vise versa.

I prefer a woman with a few teeth missing myself. That's hot.

Yeah it's a wildly subjective question that doesn't have any place in the Living in Korea section of the website. Perhaps the off-topic forum would be a better place for this pointless question.

I think this thread CAN be appropriate for the General Forum because it is about how people judge who is attractive WHILE they are living in Korea....

I remember how me and my friends (and a couple of bystanders) would sit in front of the window of Baskin Robins with small cards with the numbers 1-to-10 and everytime a woman (Korean or waekuk-in) walked by, we would flash our cards like the judges at the Olympics. After a few times, some people outside the place noticed what we were doing and they would also scope out for women who were about to pass by the window. As soon as the women passed by, they would turn to us to see how we "rated" them. Sometimes the "score" was fair, but sometimes one of the people outside would go inside to speak to us and ask why we gave a particular woman a higher or lower score than expected....

Yeah, it is totally relative, but I feel there are some culturally embedded expectations of what people would perceive as attractive....and.....what a person finds attractive......which is my main question..... Very Happy

culturally embedded expectations exist. I'm sure we've all heard the ultra thin Korean girl who whines that she is too fat, or her skin is too dark, or her eyes are too narrow, or she isn't tall enough, etc. etc.
So ironically, there are some really attractive women in Korea who feel they are unattractive because they fall outside the narrow parameters of what the society tends to deem as "sexy" or "attractive". Same as anywhere, but the guidelines are pretty solid here.

As for me, "I like big butts and I cannot lie." Maybe I'm in the wrong country for that though.

Clothing determines a big part of whether or not a woman is sexy. Too frumpy or too trashy has zero appeal. I've seen girls dressed casually in baggy jeans, a sweater, and a ball cap and thought "wow, she's cute as hell" (but definately not sexy). The same girl dressed in a nice dress or skirt with all the fixins', well, she could be sexy... It's worth noting that girls with belly piercings and tattoos... well, to me, a girl loses all appeal when she has either of these - I immediately think "tramp" (which, of course, is not to say that all women with belly button piercings or tattoos are tramps). For all around attractiveness, it's all about the face, the smile, and the bum!

Piercings and tattoos are a damn good sign on a Korean woman.
If you are lucky, it's an indication that she has nearly the same level of sexual experience as a woman from back home (the type of "western" woman that doesn't have piercings and tat's)!

There's only one measurement for sexiness, and he is never, ever wrong. I have listened to him faithfully my whole life and he has never led me astray.

I've been avoiding making this same joke all day in this thread. I'm glad someone else did.
