I am thinking about buying a new laptop in a few months. I will be back in the States for a bit in November. Wondering if I should get one there or here in Seoul.
I was just at Yongsan Market yesterday and today and saw some really interesting "travel notebooks," as the sales clerk called them. It is a notebook where the screen spins around and folds back down, kind of like a tablet. They come with a pen and the screens are touch sensitive. I looked on sites in the States but couldn't find anything.
The prices here seem pretty reasonable, but I don't want a laptop with Hangul on the Keyboard.
Any suggestions as to where to find one from the States or Canada? |

Why don't you want a Korean keyboard? It has English too.
In the states you're probably going to find the best deals at the big-box stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, and the like. Check the Sunday paper advertisements for special deals of the week. If there's a certain brand you are looking for, then just go to their website to see if they have an online store where you can customize the computer yourself. |

Probably what you saw was one of the newer versions of my travel computer: http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/products/mobile/tablet_pcs/lifebook_p_tablet.html
I use it when I travel (or for teaching) and it's perfect for its portability. |

I just don't like the way Hangul looks on Keyboards. Just the way I feel, plus, what if I relocate to Japan or somewhere else where they don't even know about Han Gul?
I have looked on Best Buy's website and couldn't see anything related to it.
That fujistu page you showed me was good. That is exactly what I am looking for. |

I'm curious, how is it different from a tablet pc? it sounds like a tablet, and those aren't hard to find... |

i;d say itll be harder to find the laptop you want without the hangul. But then again you might get lucky. Id prefer one with too if i was buying.
Just a note though, make sure if you do buy in Korea you have some kind of international warranty, and check the hinge on those tablets. Make sure its solid.
First thing to go on a laptop is the screen cos of hinge problems and connections breaking. Even more so id think with the tablet. If you got a warranty its not problem.
These travel laptops are usually called ultraportables. around 1kg or less in weight.
Some are very snazzy, but cos of the weight you usually have to sacrifice some features or deal with a bit more weight. i.e dvd drives, graphics cards, small screens. |

My wife and I saw some of the new Sony notebooks... holy F... talk about light! And really cool design.
Wouldn't want to drop one, though-- better open the cover with 2 hands, or it'll break. No kidding, the monitor bends in a very uncomfortable way!
We saw them at the COEX Sony store on the 2nd floor (not the small store below). |

Don't botherr buying stuf here you will be overpaying.. Korea is the land of High tech ripoffs.
I suggest a Lenovo x61 tablet..
Or even a Netbook, aka Asus EEE, MSI Wind. |
