Don't go into any place that is recommended by a Tuk Tuk driver. You'll pay a huge commision that he will pocket. Stay away from touristy places never accept the first price offered. |

My husband had an excellent suit made by a guy at the River City Plaza next to the Sheraton ORchid. It was about 300 bucks for a suit with two pants, several shirts, and 3 or 4 extra pairs of pants. It's very high end. If you want hte guy's info, let me know. If you don't want to pay that much, tehre are a billion tailor shops in teh torusity areas like Koh San Road |

I would like the info. Headed off to Thailand soon and would also like a custom suit. |

If you're paying in American dollars you'll lose 30% in Bad exchange rate.
You might want to consider getting that suit made in Iteawon
This year one American dollar is worth 30 baht. I can remember when it was one US dollar to 48 baht |

Manhattans is a touristy place but they actually make decent suits.
Shirts - if you go to the big shopping malls - Central et al you can find brand named clothing normally on sale.
Or if you go to Hua-hin, Pattaya, Khorat there are a few big factory outlets that sell shirts at a good price.
Also a very good place in Laem Chabang but the chances of finding it without help are nil. |

I got mine made in Ko Phang Ngan. It was $100 for the custom-made suit, 1 shirt, 1 tie (with Armani labels haha), and another $100 for the overcoat (also Armani labeled).
The guy's name was Mr. John, and he was Nepalese I believe (most of them are from around India). |

Don't go to manhattan. I allowed a tuk tuk driver to take me there (god knows why) and this guy Neil went off on me after I politely said I didn't want a suit. He followed me downstairs telling me what a "dirty man" I was.
He kept doing it in front of all the tourists downstairs, so I finally told him to f**k off in front of everybody. Not a pleasant experience. |

I had the opposite.
I went there on my own and was happy with it, going anywhere with Tuk-tuk's isn't the wisest thing to do though. |

Don't bother with any Indian tailor, none of them do any tailoring they just contract it out to Thais. Get the same thing from a Thai place cheaper. |

True, true. My friend and I knew we were getting taken a bit, but being high as shit on opiates, we didn't really care. Kept asking each other, "This can't be a good deal, can it?" Anyway, went along with it and come back for a second fitting. Met a German guy there who claimed he read in a guide book that this place was the best place to go to get a suit for under $150. And that's how we found out how much we got taken.
But all in all, I like my peacoat I got from them. My suit, meh. I'm just not a suit wearing kind of guy. It was from a place called Chophraya. Somewhere near the Standing Buddha. $400 for a suit, peacoat, shirt, and tie. |

THe other option is to go and buy the material yourself and get it made at a back streety shop.
Try having a wander around Klong Toei there are lots of good small Thai tailors there that will make your suits to order as long as you have the material. |

OP, I'll look for it at home for you tonight. If I don't get back to you soon, send me a PM. We're moving in 10 days, and my head is in about 20 different places at the moment. |
