No joke. Friends were at Mokdong today, were told the same thing. Korean Govt. are holding off.

have there been any official notices from immi about this??

since this is a little after the start of the school year, they might be doing this just so they have no problems getting FTs in their public schools for next year. which would really make sense Shocked Shocked

Quite the opposite on the official Immigration Website. It states the new rules begin Dec.15.

In another thread regarding, Korea's response to the US's system for background checks was "s lack of a centralized system."

At least the US is on the same page with each other. In Korea, no one knows what the hell is going on, even in the same department of government.

The FBI is centralized, but they have bigger concerns than expats teaching English in Korea.

It's because the USA has 50 freakin' states, of which Korea is the size of just ONE.

Maybe there's still hope all this will blowover. I'm glad to hear they gave everyone a reprieve until March (which funny enough, I stated on here they needed to do).
