|
|
hi, I have received and decided to take a contract in Seoul, but my Visa is being hinged on having my original diploma parchment, which I do not have anymore.
Has anyone used a duplicate replacement parchment or a letter of completion from their university as supplement. I cant imagine my whole plans would hinge on something so stupid, has anyone got any experience or answers for me?
thanks.

I need help guys, please someone with some experience or clear advice.
I cant just submit it and hope for the best, it wont work like that unfortunately. |

will it say 'DUPLICATE' in massive letters? can you get your uni to notarize it as being authentic as well? (and perhaps even an apostille?)
i've got a friend who got an E-2 on a replacement degree.
edit: part of the reason we might not be 100% sure of this is that sometimes it seems to depend entirely on the immigration official. i think you'll be fine, but obviously spliff and your recruiter have their concerns. |

nothing, he handed it in as-is. (i'm just trying to give you some tips if you're really worried, which you seem to be. plus, this happened before the big paedophile scare thing, so maybe they're more strict or whatever.) |

I'm having this same problem right now..
Dear Mr. CDI Recruiter Sir,
I will not mail out my original diploma -- I should never have to surrender my original diploma to an employer. Can't I obtain a certified copy from my University, or have them directly mail to you a certified copy? However, I am willing to bring my original diploma overseas and present it to the Immigration Office when we do my visa run. Let me know how we can work around this.
_______________
Dear Mr. Teacher Sir,
In order to obtain an E2 visa, you must submit your original university degree to the Korean Immigration Office. In the past, you were able to submit a notarized copy from the Korean Consulate/Embassy but we have been informed that this is no longer allowed. We also need your original degree to register you with the Ministry of Education.
_______________
I'm also going to try to obtain a re-issued copy of my diploma from my Uni, but it supposedly takes 6-8 weeks to receive, and my departure date is scheduled at around February 10th.
I don't understand why the Immigration Office wouldn't take a notarized copy of my diploma if they'll have my official sealed transcripts, lol. If they don't accept a re-issued "original" diploma, I'll look elsewhere for work. >_> |

You CAN use a university (re)-issued duplicate (not an electronic copy) of your parchment. The only difference between a university issued duplicate and the original would be the signatures on the parchment.
You can NO LONGER use an embassy certified copy. |
