I tried the search function but no luck.

How do I get a letter of release ? What is the proper way of resigning so I can get the letter ?

your current employer must give u a LoR. he or she must release u from your contract. if they refuse, u'll have to:
1) wait until your current visa expires
2) attempt to cancel the visa yourself by talking to immi when leaving the country at the airport. (lots of debate about if this one actually works...)

There's lots about letters of release on this forum - I wish mods would make some of it a sticky. When you search, make sure you click on find ALL words. That should do it. I just did it and there were more than 1,400 posts found.

You mean like some kind of Frequently Asked Question?

Perhaps look in the FAQ forum? Perhaps even a sticky in the FAQs?

Getting a Letter of Release

2. Release Letter

Oh, but those are old posts.

Guess what - nothing much has changed (until perhaps tomorrow).

Okay, tompatz. You got me - should have mentioned the FAQs. Mea culpa and thanks for all your help earlier this year when I needed it about the same subject! Smile

You're welcome and it wasn't meant to be a flame.... just a reminder that we sometimes forget the easy way first.... and that stuff that should be stickied usually is... somewhere....
