Say you leave Korea before a new bill arrives for utilities or internet ie. the total for the month has not been processed....What happens if your flight leaves before then in your experiences?

Arrange to pay everything before you leave.

The internet company comes to your home country and drags you back to Korea. After you pay the bill they sell you to North Korea and you become a sex slave having 100's of wives.

Those foreigners who don't pay their credit card, cell phone, internet, etc bills before they go home, make it that much more difficult for the foreigners in Korea who try to get approved for credit. No wonder SK Telecom makes us put down a 200,000 won deposit before getting a monthly cell phone plan with them. I'm suprised that LG doesn't do the same.

I'm suprised you ask such a question....

And the owner of the hagwan you worked in will impose a housing deposit for future teachers. (Happened at my first job in Korea because the previous employee had racked up a $500 phone bill calling home and refused to pay)

I've been missing him for so long! Where is his web site?

[Edit: found him at http://www.pixyland.org/peterpan/ Adds a bit of joy to my day...]

Are the bills in your name or someone else's? Your name, you take care of them before you leave. Go to the office, cut them off on a certain date, and pay up.

Someone else's? You give the school money for them, they won't pay the bills, and the next foreigner to live in your apartment is screwed and calls you names.

Koreans do it in Canada all the time. If a company is stupid enough to sell a product to a person who can f off anytime they like then that is their problem.

Nothing will happen at the airport as you are so discreetly planning your runner through various discreet threads.... Laughing

But, leaviong with unpaid bills will still make you a scum bag. No worries.

"their problem" unfortunately becomes OUR problem

I really do hope the new E2 visa regulations take better care/control of people like you...

I suggest that you say a prayer for all companies around the world so that they can have better control of their "payees". Precious companies. We wouldn't want them to lose ANY money now would we? Why don't you call the government right now and tell them what is happening!
