It sure has a lot of tests; doesn't seem like one single doctor can test and report on all these conditions as these are all different specializations. Optometrists don't do cardiology tests while internal medicine doctors don't do mental health assessment. Maybe in Korea one doctor at hospital can do this form after you visit each department for a test? How do you do it?
I know in America, it would cost a fortune in time and money to get all these tests and it would require a separate form for each test. I want to get it done in Korea this week, if possible. There are also redundant repeated items. It looks poorly thought out. This is not a standard physical, it appears to be many separate tests that require many doctor visits to many different doctors.
Here is a list showing all the tests on the medical form.

I went to my local hospital with a Korean friend. Once they understood what I wanted, we were good to go. Most of it was nonsense medicine. He asked if I was pooping ok. Yup. Tick. Eyes ok? Yup. Tick. Are you crazy? (Yes, he really asked me that.) Nope. Tick. Sex good? Wonderful. Tick. Blood tests consist of a vial or two plus a finger *beep*.
I was in and out in two hours, and picked everything up the next day. 28,500 won. |

Mine costed 126,450 Won.
12k for the...blood test?
12k for the administrative fees
92k for the frickin chest X-ray. 92K!
Yeah, I was NOT pleased. For 2 reasons.
1) I was under the impression EPIK paid for this. Hell, why don't they do TB skin screen like back in the states? What's with the X-Ray? I don't recall X-Ray being necessary for a TB test back in the states for teachers. Does anybody?
2) 126450 won is 137.088 USD or 93.61 EU or 156.53 AUD. So I wonder how bad it would have been in the US.
The questionnaire was hilarious. They don't check your body out. They just ask the questions
Do you have...
hepatitis?
Psychosis (What do they expect? Someone to say yes?)?
renal disease?
diabetes?
and so on.
The eye thing; they use the old driver's license chart, where you gotta hold onto a stick to block one eye while you use the other to read the letters.
Got it all done at one spot. Maybe that was the problem- I should've price shopped. |

Agent X that is outrageously expensive! ouch!
I sure hope mine doesn't cost that much. I am going next Monday since I will have 3 hours free in the middle of the day. I have my fingers crossed that it is a jiffy to get this medical exam and form signed off on. Probably the language barrier presents the biggest hurdle due to few speaking English. I have been to my local hospital and only the president spoke English who is also the head doctor. Ditto for reception, check in staff, nurses, etc. Maybe this president doctor who trained in Germany and the US can accommodate my need for an employment in Korea medical exam. Fingers crossed that it doesn't take too long. |

Can anyone provide a copy of the medical check form, please?
(It was on another post recently, but it was illegible.)
I have a demo lesson tomorrow - and have just been told I need a medical, too. |

On mine the doctor wrote:
Eyes - "Blue"
Skin - "White"
Mental Health - "Normal"
I got a good chuckle out of it.
I'm 'normal'. Woo hoo!... who would have thought? |

Reminds me of an old woman here in the States who was taken aside by Homeland Security at an airport and asked "do you know Osama bin Laden?" Gotta screen out those terrorists, don't ya know?
Korea's new regulations are about as meaningless as most of the Homeland Security BS here: it's just a lot of hoo-hah to make people think they're safer and can sleep more soundly at night. |
