Does anyone know of any decent Italian restaurants in Seoul where you can bring your own wine and pay a small corkage fee.

Cheers

Any idea what the corkage fee is there. Have you been before and if so how was the food?

I dont think BYO is even known here..
that restaurant probably allowed it because
they were just being nice.. and the waiter probably had no clue..
dont think the boss would appreciate it.. as restaurants make most of their money off the booze.. and at kangnam rents, I doubt they want people bringing in their own booze..

I think there are places around Seoul that do it. My girlfriend has just found an Italian restaurant in Hongdae that has BYO - corkage is 5,000 won. Not sure what the food will be like though. Hoping it's not Korean style where you have a choice of spaghetti or....spaghetti.

Many restaurants will allow you to BYOW for a corkage fee, it's on a lot of menus. VIPS is one, but that's not Italian. Try "Parmi" in Sinchon. Exit like you are going to Yonsei. After a big intersection about halfway to Yonsei, look on your right for the statue of the Italian chef. The owner, usually acting as the doorman, is great and speaks English.

Most restaurants allow it if you ask. But!! The corkage is usually starting at around W 15,000 per bottle. And that usually depends on the price of the bottle you are bringing which I find strange. But whats normal?

For someone who calls himself itaewonguy ... ah, forget it.
I've paid corkage charges at Thai Orchid (before their renovations; hopefully, they'll still allow it), La Plancha (both in Itaewon), Gran Gusto (Gangnam, Daechi-dong), Aimo e Nadia (Seocho), and Cusvas (Gangnam). In the past, I also did it at Pasha (near Gangnam), but the last time I asked, the young woman said no. I think it may have been a case of a young, new waitress being clueless.

I think the price depends on the restaurant. I remember paying only 10,000 won at some places. Also, I recall it being a flat charge whenever I did it.
