GEPIK sent out another letter asking for even more information about all public school teachers. Evidently some member of the Korean Parliament demended monthly checks of all public school teachers and he's going to lead some big investigation of hagwons, too.

I got the word a few minutes ago. They want all kinds of information including: another diploma check, another police check, work history in Korea, any aliases, and all of your past addresses in Korea.

They can ask, but I have already told my co-teacher I am done confirming my background and qualifications. I've been doing it for the last four years. Other people have been doing this nonsense for longer than that. Enough is enough! If they don't like it, fire me. These guys are morons for thinking they can get by with this stupidity.

They can ask again and they will get the big fat NO.

I'm done with this crap. They can feel free to fire me. I was looking for a job when I found this one.

There is no shortage of jobs and globally, ESL is a growth industry. Korea is NOT worth the constant hassle and proof of their ineffiency.

Time to find a beach anyway.

Look at this thread:

http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=108666

Just now at lunch I was asked to hand write a letter saying I have no criminal background (I have never done a check) and sign it.

That was no problem, but as I said in the other thread, anyone asking for more documents can kiss my a$$ and I will be on a plane for Taipei by next Friday. There are daily flights from Incheon on Cathay Pacific as well as Asiana. What a great country.

... in the southern hemisphere.

This type of thing makes me cringe, and new stupid ideas such as proving you have a degree because you are with the university's alumni makes me laugh because joining the alumni is voluntary.

Ridiculous. I bet if I come back next year, I will end up getting upset and calling it off. I have heard again and again in the past 2 months about all these repeated checks and indifferent behaviors public school teachers are receiving.

I don't have a good gut feeling about Korea anymore.

all I've seen her do is fill out a form, and she has not asked me to bring in my degree since this one day I brought it in.

Well, they have been doing it for quite awhile now........2000-4000 years. So, what makes anything think they will stop now?

The thread was started regarding GEPIK, which is the province around Seoul, but not in it.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised it's happening to everyone this week. That's why we were invited to Everland and filled with food and beer.

There is one good way to stop all of this nonsense once and for all, even if it is a bit childish (or is it?) and following the lines of two wrongs don't make a right...

If those in high places in U.S., Canada, U.K. etc. reciprocated this method every time a Korean living in one of those countries committed a serious crime, demanding new background checks, verifications and trips back home to get fresh police checks, all this over the top fussiness and downright irritation would stop in a flash.

Unfortunately though this is never going to happen Evil or Very Mad
