Hi, going to take a trip down to Yongsan sometime this week to pick up a new computer. I am thinking about something like this:

E2180 + aftermarket cooler (should hit 3.0ghz+ easily()
Gigabyte DS3-R
Either 8800/3850/3870 depending on prices
2gb Ram - any cheap good clocking Korean brands I should know about?
500gb ish HDD
500w ish PSU

1080p capable monitor. Which one? I don't know! Are there any decent monitors available for around the 400k mark? There seem to be a lot of strange brands that I have never heard of. Any first hand experience? Would probably be looking at 24" as I don't think they do 1080p 22".

For a small price bump you can get a real core2duo CPU instead of just a crippled dual core with a stripped down cache. The E2180 CPU is to core2duos like the Celeron was to the Pentiums. The E2180 is the celeron to the core2 duo E4300.

It would be a far better investment to bump up a bit rather than simply trying to over clock, ESPECIALLY since you are planning to go TOP END on the GPU.

I was under the impression that the cache makes next to no differences in games. I will most likely go with the 3850 gpu if I can get it for 150k or under. Also from everything I have read it seems the e2180 clocks best de to the multi?

Cache is always important.

That CPU is garbage. 3850 for under 150? Nope.

That system would be totally hamstrung by that CPU. Go for at least an E6750......around 180,000 in Yongsan or online.

My E6750 is happily overclocked at 3.4ghz (from 2.66ghz). I didn't even have to raise the voltage.....in fact, strictly speaking, it's running under-volted. That means fairly cool running. The Zalman cooler helps of course.

Any mobo bought now should be 45nm Penryn/DDR3 ready. The DS3R is a good choice there.

RAM is nice and cheap at the moment so you can get 2GB's of good name-brand RAM for as little as 50,000.
