I recently took on a young cat (about 9-10 months old), thinking it was fine to have pets in my apt building, since I saw dogs all the time. Apparently, you can have dogs...but not cats. Anyway, he's adorable and playful. He was spayed already. Send me a PM asap and I'll send you photos. In Seoul, btw.

How can they tell you have a cat? Is it loud?

That sucks.. maybe you could lend him to a friend for a while until she believes you got rid of him? I don't understand the hate for cats in this country.. good luck!

It's a superstition relating to their eyes, just like in medieval Europe.

here is your solution. "Sorry, i don't speak english". if that doesn't work, tell her to bite herself and show you the lease and where it says "no cats". It is a superstition here, but I guarantee you there is nothing in the lease for your apartment that says "no cats". she is probably just trying to overstep her authority to appease her stupid superstition of cats and fans that kill, and all the other superstitions here. I had a friend with the same problem with a cat. The landlord said get rid of it. He refused, and requested to see the lease, which they have to show you. My friend had a korean friend look at it, and it had nothing in there saying "no cats".

Anyway, if you can't find anyone for your kitty, I will be happy to take him. I have a small dog already, but he loves cats for some weird reason. anyway, pm me if you wish. i can't pm on here for some reason.

I wish I could take the cat. I miss having a cat.

One of my former students once said "I hate cats because they're wild," to which I responded "No-- cats are wild because you hate them."

You should have Sunnan Kum, the owner and founder of KAPS (the KOREAN ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY) call your ladylady and speak on your behalf, asking her to let you keep your cat. It's crazy that dogs are allowed, but not cats.

Please give this a try before giving your cat away.

Ok...the cat is staying with a cat-loving friend for now, but it's only a foster home. Several people contacted me about it and then backed out at the last minute. Please, someone contact me!

they can't deny your right to keep a cat if neighbours keep dogs.

it's worth kicking up a fuss about if you like the cat! Smile

if you still need to find a home, grab a digital camera and post a picture. you'll have a much better chance of someone being interested!

Being a cat lover I sympathize.
My husband and I recently had to find someone to adopt our 2 cats because our infant daughter is allergic.
We brought them over from Canada and had every intention of traveling the world with them.
We hope to be reunited after we have started allergy treatments on her.

ANYWAY, you should really just keep the cat. I agree with the people that say if you like the cat it's worth kicking up the fuss! They cannot deny your right to a pet. Like someone said....make them show you in the lease.....or just keep it and say that you got rid of it.
Then, don't let the landlord in the apt without hiding the cat first.
I wouldn't worry about what the landlord says.

I hope it works out for you!

Take care~

I can't PM you, but I added you to my AIM to try to catch you online sometime.

I'm very much interested in getting a cat. My landlady, though she doesn't like them, said I can have one as long as I take care of it. No problem there!

The only concern I have is that I'm not really in an apartment, I have one of those studio-style rooms. Would this cat be up for a small living space?

Good luck in finding a good home. Smile
