Get in there! Happy days! At last something positive has come out of the election.

Anyone else working in a hagwon got this as a rest day?

I know there was another thread on this, but I couldn't find it. Sorry!

Non-profit organization. I have the day off too.

This whole week has been awesome. Today I was paid to stay home and bake cookies in the morning, for example (parents' day tomorrow).

I'm leaving on Thursday for my vacation, so it's perfect; gives me a whole day to pack.

My hagwon is open but I told them I wasn't coming in. This went over really well.

I work at night. I didn't really expect my school to be closed. There's that strange Korean labor day holiday that some workers get (office workers) but we night time hagwon workers don't get.

All in all, we get next tuesday off for christmas and then the following tuesday off for new years. Then we get a nice long solnal in February. And then I'm leaving Korea. I'm not feeling screwed out of holiday time in the next three months, certainly.

Yea, that's the deal with having tomorrow off since it's not a holiday or red day. I am not sure why schools are closed for the election. While our Winter vacation is only 4 chargeable work days, it includes the red days of Christmas, a Sunday, and New Years day as well as a Saturday for a total of 8 days. Christmas through New Years day.

Had there been no election tomorrow, we would have 11 days straight off instead of working next Monday, but it doesn't bother me much as I had no trip planned and like having this week chopped in half with hump day off.

I would hardly call that a proper holiday. We're off on the 19th this month & I don't need to return to my high school for 3 weeks, then 8 days of English classes between Jan from Jan 9-20th (our two week winter thingy) & then off till Mar 3rd.

Hogwan teachers don't have it good at all when it comes to vacation time.

I work four hours a day for my 2.1 million and free apartment. I'm not so fussy about holiday time.

I work 15 hours a week + extra hours (which totals around 22 hours in all) & I get 4.0. I guess my e-peen is bigger then?

Unless you own your own housing on your own terms, I would not consider any offered housing of any real value. The extra housing allowance is far better.

If I were you, I'd be pretty damn fussy about vacation time if I made that little money.

I'm not here for the money. I'm here to take a break. I like my work hours. I like my apartment. I find they pay and vacation fair.
