Santa Delivers 37,000+ Copies of Constitution to Bush

Kringle hopes the President can find time to read the document and abide by its laws.

http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/71268/?src=rss

December 20, 2007, Washington, DC - This morning, Santa Claus (in the person of noted constitutional lawyer Bill Goodman) drove his sleigh to the White House to deliver thousands of copies of the U.S. Constitution to President Bush.

Americans from all over the country - more than 37,000 of them - asked that a copy of the Constitution be delivered to the President in their name and cordially requested that he make time in his busy schedule to read it.

"While I was going over the list of who's been naughty and nice," Mr. Claus said, as he prepared for his visit to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, "I heard from many people who feel the President hasn't been doing a very good job of upholding his oath to 'preserve, protect and defend' the Constitution."

Responding to an urgent request from the Center for Constitutional Rights, Claus stepped in to bring messages from Americans who felt the President might need a refresher course in the Constitution. Citizens want to remind President Bush that the Constitution forbids torture and spying on Americans without a warrant, requires that prisoners get a fair hearing of the charges against them before a real court and makes the government's treaty obligations, such the Geneva Conventions, the law of the land.

"These Constitutions will make great holiday reading," Claus continued. "I want to be sure that the President has plenty of time to look at them before he decides on his New Year's resolutions."

The complete text of the letter that accompanies the Constitutions is available here.

The Center for Constitutional Rights is dedicated to advancing and protecting the rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Founded in 1966 by attorneys who represented civil rights movements in the South, CCR is a non-profit legal and educational organization committed to the creative use of law as a positive force for social change.

Does anyone know of any presidential candidates who want to restore the Constitution?

Here, I'll save the kool-aid drinkers some time:

There's nothing wrong.

Bush was great.

We're at war.

The Bathists will destroy America

Liberal traitor.

OK, I've changed my pants and caught my breath now.

Seriously (if you were being serious), could you explain exactly how following our Constitution leads to the Baathists walking down Wall Street, etc.?

FBI Aims For World's Largest Biometrics Database
Sat Dec 22, 1:30 AM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The FBI is embarking on a $1 billion project to build the world's largest computer database of biometrics to give the U.S. government more ways to identify people at home and abroad, the Washington Post reported on Friday.

The FBI has already started compiling digital images of faces, fingerprints and palm patterns in its systems, the paper said.

In January, the agency -- which focuses on violations of federal law, espionage by foreigners and terrorist activities -- expects to award a 10-year contract to expand the amount and kinds of biometric information it receives, it said.

At an employer's request, the FBI will also retain the fingerprints of employees who have undergone criminal background checks, the paper said.

If successful, the system, called Next Generation Identification, will collect the biometric information in one place for ... identification and "forensic" purposes, the Post said.

The CIA wants to know everything about people? Jesus, the more I learn about humans the more disappointed I become.

And Bush is a lying scumbag. I hope the CIA reads this and gets pissed off. They'll never be able to touch me, so they can just suck my dick.

(My taunt at the CIA. I'm living on the edge.)

More to the point, do you know of ANY candidate who doesn't?

This is not the first time Republicans have shown contempt for the Constitution. Back in the hallowed days of the Nixon administration, Attorney General Edwin Meese, in refering to the First Amendment, said, "It's just another amendment."
