+1 and thanks to Harpeau for originally recommending this guy to me a few months back. I've been to him for maintenance work a few times and he's awesome. Just last week, he did a fret job on my aging and crappy mandolin. I asked him to do only the top 7 frets because it would be too expensive otherwise. Turns out he didn't have the right size fretwire so he did the whole thing but still only charged me for the top 7 frets.
He speaka da Englishee too.
Nevertheless there's not a lot in there for cheap guitars. Just the stuff he made plus a few super high end american Gibsons etc. Don't know if they're new or if he came across them and restored them.
I actually have an MD electric made by him which I bought at another place in Hongdae which is also worth checking out. Sorry to be so unhelpful to OP but I just had a rummage through my business cards and couldn't find it. It's out the popular Hongdae exit (is it 5 or 6?), turn up the hill, go right at the sort of diagonal arty street, go a few blocks, wander around. Sorry to be so damn unhelpful. |

MD Guitar Shop is definitly the place to go. The owner and his wife are super nice. Also whenever I go I never feel like I'm getting ripped off, like I do at Nagwon. Prices are right too! |

Just go to the huge place @ Jongno. It's around the corner from the palace. It's a dingy building that's on one-story-high stilts. |

get off the subway at sangsu station (on the brown line), go out exit 1 and head southwest (towards hapjeong station)... on your right there are 3 smallish stores, including 'guitar cat'... turn right onto the 'parking lot' street and take the first left... turn right at the 7-11 and there is a custom guitar shop on your left... keep going down that street and just past the next street there is a place called 'stompbox'...
what kind of stuff are you looking for? |
