Which hospital in Seoul do you go to? What is a good, reputable hospital in the Gangnam area?

I try to avoid the hospitals, finding them ridiculously overpriced. At the catholic hospital by Express Bus Terminal I had to show the doctor how to use the blood pressure cuff. I'm not even kidding.

They also wanted to charge me 60 bucks to come in and have my cholesterol checked. That's ten times what it costs to go to a neighborhood clinic, but you take your chances with the doc's English ability in that case. Even though I already paid for the test, I didn't want to go back and incur another fee just for the privilege of stepping in the door.

I pretty much just go to a little Internal Medicine clinic (내과) by Kyodae station these days. If you need to go somewhere else a clinic doc can give you a referral which knocks the price down.

I've even had trouble not going to exactly the right pharmacy because it's not the pharmacy in the same building as the doc, and thus, I have to argue to get them to accept my insurance.

In the Kangnam area, your best bet is Samsung Seoul Hospital.

The hospital I go to is fantastic, but it's in Song-pa (by Jamsil). Asan medical center. I'm very impressed with it, if you ever get desperate for a place.

I go to Seoul National University hospital in Hyewha. My friend goes to Samsung in Gangnam and speaks very highly of it.

I've been to Kangbuk Samsung, good place, friendly staff. I've been told (by a couple of Korean friends who advised me when I was ill) that Samsung hospitals are known for being more "customer focussed" than some other places, although maybe a bit more expensive. Not sure if it was more expensive, but I was cared for really well.

They also tend to examine you in front of other people.
