This is from Igottaguitar, but really deserves it's own thread:

AOL STRAW POLL

The numbers have been changing by the thousands everyday I check it.

Right now:

Democrats:
Clinton 45%
Obama 27%
Edwards 16%

Republicans:
Paul 32%
Guiliani 16%
Huckabee 16%
McCain 14%
Romney 13%
Hunter 1%

Interesting. When you look at Iowa specifically, much different numbers, Clinton and Obama are almost the same. A win by Obama in Iowa, could skew all the national numbers significantly.

Republicans are completely skewed online by Ron Paul. It will be interesting to see where he really falls in line at in the Iowa Caucus.

I keep looking at the Staw Poll, and it is pretty weird how Ron Paul keeps getting MOST of the VOTES in nearly ALL of the states. I mean, I know his internet presense is strong, but he's like Hiliary Clinton for the Democrats. He's just monopolozing nearly all of the states.

Any strong Ron Paul internet followers out there, who know where he's getting all these votes going to the AOL webpage? It's an internet phenomenom, but a very curious one.

According to the Rasmussen Poll of Dec 19, in Iowa...Its now Huckabee 28%, Romney 27%, and the man endorsed by the Des Moines Register, John McCain, in third at 14%. No other Republican candidate reaches double digits. That means RP.

Straw polls are just media events with no real relevance to much of anything.

Yes Beer ...

THE PEOPLE's VOICE IS CLEAR.

Dubious electronic "polls" are not.

Shouldn't that read: '6% or 7% of the people's voice is clear'?

That's what many have likely been "led" to believe, yes.

All polling is done to home phones, not mobile.
How many Americans under 45, DRRP's base, do you know with a landline?
Of course he's not polling well, though does it matter? Exit polls in 2004 showed Kerry winning with a comfortable margin. Rolling Eyes

So for all the gung-ho RP supporters with their tremendous energy who spend hours online promoting their candidate, have raised $20 million, and even launched a blimp, it will be too much trouble for them to go out and vote when the time comes?

The Rasmussen website does not say how their polls are conducted but as I understand it, they would not include new voters nor likely voters without landlines which would skew the stats against RP.

Hmmm...a GOP coalition of the Religious Right, the Wall Street Fat Cats and the right wing fruit cakes.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

But I'll bet attending their convention would be a hoot.

aol polls are notoriously bad. they do them for just about every article and they always turn out really really skewed. the only people who answer are really interested and already have a favorite, the only republicans who are really interested are ron paul fanatics. the only thing to learn from this poll is that ron paul might steal a good percentage from top two, depending on where in the spectrum he is drawing his supporters, this could favor one or the other, or just make the race closer. Think Nader, if you will, but for the primaries, so who cares really.

also i love how they are "sorting the spin". they are not even trying to tell you the truth anymore, just sorting the fluff into categories? hilarious.

I was never much of a fan of Hunter S. Thompson, but I'm missing his take on the current crop of Republican candidates.
