I went to Spy bar in Itaewon last night. Was quite surprised by the clientale. Lots of eastern european dudes with sleeveless shirts dancing in an eurotrashy fashion. And lots of tall modelesque foreign women with their noses in the air.
still, thought it was alright, if a little snobby.

I rarely go to Itaewon, but when I do that's where I go. I like the music and it's (usually) pretty easy to pick up. |

I don't like it.
The "models" are usually Brazilian or from different Eastern European countries. They are extremely difficult to talk to and usually way too young. Even the samba dancers are unapproachable.
What? Stuck up Brazilians? In my experience, that's an oxymoron.
I'm bitter about it, because when I lived in Brazil, it was way too easy to talk to (or bring home) girls that looked like the ones in spy bar (or much better) with only mediocre Portuguese skills.
From what I've heard, it's also quite easy to meet hot girls in places like Croatia, CR, or Ukraine.
In either case, as soon somebody tells them they are international models its all over (unless you tell them you're rich or a model also).
Whatever. Korean ladies still love me |

Misic is okay, but booze is over-priced. The lounge on the other side is nice for a breather and quieter mood. |

That's about the perfect assessment.
I've thrown out some of my basic 100 words of Brazilian-Portuguese which will get me about 1-2 minutes of attention, then they are quickly back with the model guys sharing their 'overseas' experience together and bonding and all of that with each other.

Same for me when I lived in Sao Paulo/Rio de Jainero. In the motherland of Brazil, the women are practically courting the men, and super-flirtateous.
The Brazilian women in Spy Bar are always the caucasian-Portuguese looking Brazilian women who are between 18-20, just got overseas for the first time, completely in her new 'model' world being exposed to much better looking guys than drunk early Sunday morning ESL teachers. |

the bar sucks.. full of wannabies!
but can you name a better bar in itaewon for late night dancing?
that venue has had its ups and down.. whent down hill for a while when lime light opened, but they shot themselves in the foot by being korean and thinking they could over charge people, so everyone went back to spy and hello hard rock hahaha |

the bar owner knows the modeling agency from where all of the models emanate.
all of the models have an arrangement with the management to get free drinks from the bar if they stand around looking pretty (which on the most part they do very well)
it is a hideously superficial place however. i have been very drunk in there on many an occasion trying to persuade myself the models are actually interested in me too. |

I consider myself pretty good looking but in that place it's difficult to get any action with the models. They are so full of their own self importance. Even throwing on the Boss jacket doesn't have the desired effect. If I'm out in Itaewon I give the place a wide berth. Someone above said it best; they are wannabies. |
