Anyone wanting to go to South Korea should be able to contend with stinking toilets. In a number of places, the used (!!!) toilet paper is deposited into a bin next to the toilet (the people do not flush their toilets, even if the plumbing does allow for it). They drop it in a an open bin next to the toilet.
In public places, after a day, this really gives off a really bad smell.
In some areas, little blue bags used for gathering toilet paper sit in the sun on the rubbish heap, waitng to be removed. |

I've noticed one or two dirty tissue deposits in the bin next to the toilet.
Other than that I've found almost every Korean toilet to be spotless and very hygienic.
How about the toilets in Saudi Arabia? |

| Only complaint is the bins with used paper but apart from that the toilets are clean and free from junkies. The little plastic flowers are a nice touch. |

excellent. spotless. every toilet has a bidet hose attached to it, and cleaners are on the job, cleaning every booth as soon as someone has used it.
for the religious rituals, cleanliness is a must. since most people are really doveted Muslims, this is very important.
On another note: of course, you also do not have the drinking binges; it is a well-behaved society. |

Sarcasm doesn't come across well over the internet unless you add a smiley.
The public toilets here are, for the most part, disgusting. I'm no clean freak and I can handle using them. But would not go as far as to say they are hygienic. |

depends what area you are in I guess. I have had no problems and conditions are far better than my undisclosed home country. |

I do not know what the Bangledeshi maids do, but they are not MADE to do anything. They freely choose to work in Saudi. If, indeed this is what they do in Saudi - imagine what they have to do in Bangladesh!!!! |

But kids do. Had one come into my private hospital room and spray all over the seat in MY bathroom (his mom was in a room down the hall). If I had been able to move faster than a snail's pace and without pain, I would have throttled him. |

I find the used toilet paper bins disgusting and there's no doubt that they're a health hazard. If the plumbing can't handle a bit of toilet paper, then it can't handle the stools.
Also annoying is the incredible selfishness of the idiots in the stalls smoking. Where do they extinguish the cigarettes? Instead of simply flushing the butt, the idiots extinguish it on the plastic lids or seats and then drop the butt--which might even still be smoldering!--into the used toilet paper bin. It's a miracle every train station in the country hasn't burned down yet. |

I agree strongly that fecal-soiled toilet paper is really disgusting. Is it really a health hazard? It feels like it should be, and sure there's a lot of Hep A in Korea, but how many people have contracted cholera, typhoid, polio, or even just E. coli, shigella, listeria, or giardia, from simply using a toilet where there was soiled tissue lying about?
I want this to be a public health concern, just not sure it is. |

How embarrassing for your home country. Please do disclose it as shall be sure to not visit.
Toilets and Korean toilet culture are utterly filthy. To argue otherwise is as erroneous as arguing Korea is unique in having four seasons.
Seoul Station subway station toilets are disgusting. That's a major subway station and Korea loses out to other Asian First World genuine hubs in the cleanliness department. |
