Man Beaten to Death for Refusing to Drink
Police arrested two construction workers on suspicion of beating their coworker to death for refusing to drink.
Gwanak Police in southern Seoul said Tuesday that the two offenders, identified only as Lee (42) and Chung (52), beat their colleague Chang (47) to death at another coworker's house in Shillim-dong, Seoul, Saturday.
The two beat the man because Chang refused to go out drinking with them, police officials said. They said their crime was unintentional.
According to the police, the two had beaten Chang habitually, who was mentally challenged. His ill health could have contributed to his death. |

Woah! In a few short words I am reminded of the following issues:
Korea's rampant domestic violence problem.
The lack of tolerance for the disabled/mentally ill.
Bullying of co-workers to conform to common workplace drinking practice.
And not specifically:
Korea's propensity to view violent/serious crimes performed under the influence of alcohol with sympathy.
I hope they get put away for a very long time.

I bet a judge lets the 2 men off because they are Korean and for one of 2 other reasons:
1. Their beating of the man was a "sign of affection," just like a man touching a 12 year old's breasts.
2. The men were drunk at the time and "didn't know what they were doing." |

"That's just one isolated incident from which no-one can draw any conclusions or generalisations.
BUT... did you know that the No. 1 cause of death of pregnant American women is murder by their unborn child's father? Did ya? Didja didja didja???" |

The poor guy probably got tired of paying for his drinking "buddies" good times. Hence, his "correctional" beating to realign his jung. |

Not to be an apologist for something as horrible as this, but crap like this happens in lots of other countries in the world, not just Korea. You don't think anything like this has ever happened in the US? |

You are so right. This could have happened anywhere.
Lets not pass judgement until the convictions and sentencing come down. ( Of course they are already saying that his POOR HEALTH contributed to his death, paving the way for the perps to walk.) |

And they throw people in jail for smoking weed.
If they were smoking a joint and he refused...
Ajoshi 1- Dude, have a toke.
Ajoshi 2 - No thanks, I don't smoke.
Ajoshi 3 - Cool, no prob bro.
