So I bought a computer off of Dave's a few months ago. I knew I wanted a good gaming experience, but I was in such a hurry and so strapped for cash that I bought a computer that was beyond decent, but not really designed for hard core gamers (I spent very little on the entire system).

First thing I did was purchase an Geforce 8600GT video card so I could actually play games on it (before it couldn't play anything). That being said, the motherboard maxes out at 2GB of RAM (I have 1GB), and a 2GHZ CPU (non-dual core).

The RAM it uses comes in 512 sticks, which seems to be so unavailable that I can't even find another two 512 sticks to buy, so I can't get that other GB of RAM that would probably make all the difference in the world.

So my query. My monitor is fine (19" LCD), as is all the other peripherals, and I'm content with my video card (even though it's only an 8600GT--it gets the job done).

I was wondering if I could get a system built and shipped that was significantly more powerful than my own, just the tower, without a video card, and then just stick my video card in.

The specs I want:
-Dual core CPU, whatever is semi-decent
-SATA HDD, anything more than 160GB is fine
-4GB of RAM

...and, that's it. Just everything except the video card. What am I looking at paying for this?

Demophobe picked up a nice system (including video card) for 600,000. You'll be able to get what you want for significantly less than that.
