Hi Folks,
Has anyone appeared in the written driving license test here in Korea?
Any tips on what kind of questions are asked?
Thanks |

Multiple choice. Done in English on a computer. Two books available in English. One is 10,000 won.
I have the two English books and a Korean book. Free if you want them. |

I took my test in Gangnung.
Mine was a fill in the bubble test. Make sure you
take one of those computer pens with you. I was
able to borrow one from the police officer.
It was much shorter than
the tests the Koreans were taking. I'm guessing that may
be because I had the American license.
I was fortunate that the
English speaking police officer offered me the book.
I had no idea there was a book. Someone should
scan it and put it online. |

Strange as I got my license in 2002 and all I had to do was give them my CT lisence and they printed up a Korean one that was good until 2012........btw.....whats the skinny on renewing one? |

Yeah. That would have been the easier way. But my Canadian license had long expired when I thought of going that route so I had to go through the entire process. |

I took it in 2005 -- wait, 2006. It kind of sucked since there were a lot of questions about specific parts of the Road Traffic Act and where I took the test (Naju) there were no study guides available in English. Common sense prevailed, though, and while I missed a lot I still passed. |

you were lucky then - i came end of 2003 and took my test in 2004 - had heard that was about the time they started giving the test - before then you just showed your license and they issued you a K one - right?
anyway - the test - it's definitely Konglish - !! so it's a good idea to read the manual just to get a feel for the way they phrase the questions - a bit of time trying to understand sometimes just what they are asking
but it's pretty easy, i passed and was happy to have my K driver's license; has been quite the treasured memento in my wallet - certainly impresses anyone asking for an ID - especially if they ask for my pp - no, i'm sorry i don't carry it around but if you just need id will my K driver's license do?
the look on their faces is always priceless! |
