Anyone know if Canada Buddy in Bucheon has Alley Kat Ale up
and running again? I hope so because it is just about the only
place within 100Km of Seoul with draft ale. For me it is the ONLY
reason to go there.

Also the phone number from their website now connects to some
old Korean dude who freaks out when scarey whitey calls!

I don't think they have the beer you're talking about on tap, they do have some Canadian beer and Budweiser on tap. The only number I have for them is 032.324.4249. Sorry I don't have any more info, I've been trying to cut down on my Cass consumption and exposure to second hand smoke. Smile

Canada Buddy...pretty ironic name. The owner of that place punched a girl out one night because she tried to stop him from beating up her husband, and then he was overheard laughing about it!

Apparently the owner thought the guy was being lippy because he kept saying "What? Speak louder." But the poor guy was deaf in one ear. I've met the guy in question, and he is a dick, but to sucker punch him and knock out his wife?

I wouldn't drink there if you paid me.

Given that there are more than enough pieces of utterly worhtless crap who beat their girlfriends, wives and mistresses, Canada buddy had good intenitons-not only does he get the mulligan, but he gets a beer on me this coming Monday.

Of course, if he wears a pink shirt or carries a purse---> no man. That's just a "psychological disorder"

Quite right: they'll beat your wife for you! And they'll beat you too! And since you're in Korea, no need to tip.

So, can anyone answer my questions, or what?

1/ Do they still have Alley Kat draft, or do I have to go to Itaewon
for a decent beer?

2/ What is the new phone number?

You give them a mulligan b/c they hit a woman? Isn't that contrary to what you just stated?

Canada Buddy usually has Alley Kat on Tap...Must be a delivery screw-up; in fact Canada Buddy is one of the bigger sellers of Alley Kat draught, so I don't know why it wasn't available...

I know the importer of Alley Kat personally, so I'll call and try and get some info for you...

Back Again...

Just got off the phone with the importer of Alley Kat. He tells me that Canada Buddy has just been sold; the new owner takes over this coming week, and he is going to discontinue Alley Kat draught beer sales...he will however be carrying the Full Moon Pale Ale in BOTTLES instead, so the product will be available. If you preferred the draught, tho', you're basically SOL from next week.

No new phone number yet; if you like, I'll post it when the importer finds out.

Sorry about the bad news; it does look like you Alley Kat draught lovers will have to venture further afield for your favourite tipple...luckily, there are other places, and if you like, I'll get a list of them and post for you...

I hope they change that awful name.

And...can someone tell me why every foreigner I've met who owns a bar can't speak a lick of Korean?

I knew this couldn't last. People put down my "Cohiba's Rule",
but I think it has just been proven once again. Anything that has
global quality, i.e. draft ale beer, is just not available outside of
Seoul. I can get bottled beer anywhere. I don't want bottled
beer. I want ALE man! Ale.

Many places have great beer in Korea. I would say 99% are ALL
in Seoul with the exception of maybe 1% in Busan.

As for Canada Buddy, it has seen the last of me. The only reason I
went there is for the ale on tap. Now, it is just another bland,
cookie-cutter, Korean hof.

sigh
