Tired of the same old fare? Lotteria and BK just don't cut it?

Go fusion, young man (woman)!

If you can get to both a Say Department Store grocery or HomePlus and Costco, you too can indulge in a quick Cajun appetizer:

No shrimp co-cktail sauce? No problem: get one tube of that hot, cheap green wasabi paste.

Get some Heinz chili sauce (in the glass bottle, deluxe)

Mix in half of the tube with all of the bottle of sauce. Voila!

Put sauce in plastic container in your freezer for 20 minutes or so.

Now on to the shrimp.

(try to buy 1 big package fresh, heads off. Shell and devein, then rinse in cold water.

Put some Chinese onion, peeled and chopped, in a large saucepan with some diced fresh garlic and finely chopped fresh ginger root.

Add water.

Mix with the shrimp and saute away on high heat until shrimp is almost done cooking. Drain excess water.

Add some butter--no margarine crap--or olive oil if you prefer.

Put heat on low. Sprinkle cajun seasoning (from Say) liberally onto shrimp. Glaze and stir, but not stir-fry. 1-2 minutes max so as not to overcook shrimp.

Turn off heat. Put shrimp and ingredients in an uncovered bowl and set out on your balcony to cool for 10-15 minutes.

Eat with chopsticks. Serves 2.

Marvelous.

Got any quick, tasty Western or fusion recipes to share? Please post here.

(MDave: this is your big chance! But in the spirit of the season, please limit to one recipe. P.S. I love Portland and Eugene.)

I will eat with metal chopsticks just to prove how much better Koreans are than the Chinese.

I did that, and 10 minutes later I looked out the window and realized I don't have a balcony.

Dang.

Now would those be the same Popeye's that don't manage to sell red beans and rice?

tzechuk:

Sweetie, they have one in Chongju too (hey, that rhymes) Wink

O.k. well, maybe you can find the Cajun spice mix in Lotte? Sad
