I wouldn't say Gangnam is the heart of Seoul or "ideal," this event is by far the best one I've seen yet for NYE.

to the best of my knowledge, this event is now officially DEAD (coming from Venus, one of the organizers/participant DJs/personal friends), as of talking with her last night.

If I can find out something else worthwhile, I'll post it up here. My buddy Judo has a gig somewhere south of here, but I believe it is a military base gig, so that won't help most people.

*** UPDATE!!! Cox IS still going to be there; it is the rest of the lineup that has changed - details about another event w/ the local set of djs are below***

Sorry for any misunderstanding -

??? Flying in International DJs requires some planning and I'm skeptical Carl Cox is just being canceled. Let us know if there is any confirmation about this, gajackson

I'm skeptical that gajackson actually knows anything at all.

Carl Cox redefined my understanding of music when I first saw him. I have never seen anyone mix techno like that.

Is this gig still on? Who's going?

Events are cancelled on a whim in this biz, baby. I' used to work in it. And Carl wears his last name well, because he certainly acts like one.
I wouldn't be surprised if he killed this thing.

FWIW, flying in DJs is usually done with corresponding events in Japan to lower costs.

Dammit, these people always skip Seoul in favour of Tokyo. I'm in the wrong town.

You're right. I was thinking about Korean promoters canceling Cox, yet still having to pay money due to last minute cancellation.

absolutely confirmed -

Those here that do know me, know I'm connected on this end of stuff. Smile I'm from the Harker & company 02/Sickboy/Triport days.

but, for those who need more about it, here is the sequence:

it went from the original venue at COEX (posters were produced) to the Marriot, and from Marriot to a major change - a lot of the dj's originally promoted were cut out in the redo -

Good news!

FAME's sudden cancellation/change of venue saw all of us locals canned, but we are switching it to Cargo to do it up for NYE there!

S*W*I*T*C*H!!!

There will be delicious drum and bass beats for you for a chunk of the night from the likes of:
Hydro, Venus, Murf, Fuji, and J-Path complimented by MC Stride, plus SOFTCORPS will rock out the early morn slot with a short and bangin' live set.

Cargo's residents tie it all together with Flamenco, Guru and newcomer: Eddy bringing the house sounds.

Cover is cheap! Drinks specials we have! You we want! ;P

15,000won plus a free drink. 3000 won jager shots all night!

9-10 Eddy
10 - 11 Flamenco
11 12 Venus&Jung
12-1 Fuji & Murf
1-2:30 Hydro & Stride
2:30- 3:30 Guru
3:30-4:10 SOFTCORPS
4:10-5:10 Takuma

It's local and we are all stoked to have somewhere to play so tell one tell all!

Hope we see you at MARKY&STAMINA MC this weekend!

What are the infinite possibilities for 2008?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
check Cox's website, MySpace page, etc. - or with the actual promoters for the show at their website - http://www.riskei.co.kr/ Or I guess you could call the korean ticketing agency???
And stuff like this DOES happen - part of it is the visa stuff, and part is cashflow. Also , places like BKK & Singapore are turning out great audiences; Japan has always been a strong pull, and places like HK & now Shanghai can drop serious money into venues & shows.
That is good for people doing Asian tours, but not great for Korea, because of all the associated problems with doing shows here.
Wherever you go, & whatever you do, hope you have fun.
If you happen to have base access, my budy Judo is playing in Kunsan, and he will put on some slamming sets.
Peace!
~G~
