Here's an email I sent them:
Dear FCO,
I am a U.K. citizen teaching English in South Korea.
For my next contract I will need a criminal records check with an apostille.
Are you able to send a legalised criminal records check/subject access form to
South Korea? If not, I will have to send everything to my family in the U.K.,
wait for you to send it back to them, and then I'll have to wait until I receive the
finished product here in Korea.
Thank you for your help.
Yours Sincerely,
Their response:
Thank you for your email.
We will be able to legalise a certificate issued by the National Identification Service regarding your criminal record. You can send your application to the office and we can return the application to any address in the world. We would advise you to pay the additional 5 for International Registered Mail. Please visit our website for further information regarding the service we provide and the documents we can legalise.
www.fco.gov.uk/legalisation
Our fee is 27 per document as of 1st April 2007 and we must charge all applications received after that date accordingly. Postal applications will be returned as standard by Royal Mail First Class. Alternatively, for an additional charge of 5 the application can be returned by Special Delivery or Airsure.
We can accept payment by cash, UK postal order, bank draft and company cheque (made payable to "The Foreign and Commonwealth Office") or debit/credit card (16/18 digit card number, expiry date, valid from date/issue number and 3 digit security code on reverse of card). Please note we can no longer accept personal cheques or money transfers. All payments must be made payable in UK pound sterling.
If you require any further information please reply to the [email protected] or telephone on 0207 008 1111 between 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-15:00 monday to friday.
Regards
Legalisation Office
So this would mean I could get the subject access/criminal check, get my family in Britain to send that to the FCO and get them to send it to me here in Korea. It doesn't sound too difficult. |
