What are flash mobs?
http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,59518,00.html
Flash mobs are performance art projects involving large groups of people. Mobilized by e-mail, a mob suddenly materializes in a public place, acts out according to some loose instructions, and then melts away as quickly as it formed.

I think it would be really interesting to see one of these flash-mobs materialize like locusts at one of these foreigner unfriendly bars.

I think it would be hilarious as well.. particularly a bunch of foreigners in some weird spot that you just wouldn't expect to see foreigners.. it would be hard not to want to hangout and drink beer afterwards however Wink

I'd suggest some really weird place like in front of a bunch of *beep* houses that foreigners aren't really wanted lingering around.. Laughing plus I'm curious what '588' or 'Miari' actually looks like as well.. never been there but heard about them.

Funny to have a sudden flash of foreigners walking through the streets and the reactions of the Korean people..

Just walking around, sounds dull, but then again, I don't know anything about the areas you mentioned. I was thinking that a spontaneous water gun fight would be great on a hot day. Cool

Anyone in?

I think we should take over a subway train and have everyone stand on one leg every time the train pulls into a station.

Everyone can post their ideas for the next three days.
On Wednesday(8/13) I will run a poll with said ideas till Friday(8/15).
The most popular one will be done; instructions and meeting time/location will be posted here.
Let the games begin.

1. Pick a location of any fast-food chain. Have everybody go in and ask for catsup.

2. At any department store have everybody go up to the second floor and try to walk down the "up" escalator to the first floor. (On second thought, since you need ease fo dispersal afterwards, try it walking down the "up" escalator from B1 to 1 - that way everybody can simply turn around and ride it up to 1 and head out.

3. Have everybody go to a DVD bang and ask for the same movie.

Jeez Ted, is life that boring? Wink
I find it hard to believe that Koreans are going to understand this, but waygooks are a mystery to them anyway, so why not?

Aw c'mon itchy... where's your sense of childish humour? These flash mobs remind of stupid stuff we did in school - I cough and everyone stands up for a second and then sits down again... I sneeze, everybody yawns blah blah blah ... I think it'd be hilarious to do one in Korea... imagine, 50 people decending on Lotteria at once asking for catsup? Very Happy

Would it work to have maybe 50 people try to get into one video bang?

What were some of the things they did in New York for the mob gatherings?
