15 days spent b/w phuket/phnom penh/siem riep/bangkok
On a fairly tight schedule:
I am looking for some trip suggestions away from the obvious of the killing fields or angkor wat or go see " x palace". Something you suggest that might not be found on the net or by doing research
Thanks |

My only suggestion would be forget about seeing places entirely. 15 days? That's just enough for a city or two. I'd just go somewhere and say, this is OK, I'll stay here till I'm bored, which would take 2 weeks easily, if not 2 months or more.
Why travel like that? Tight spaces and tight times, the need to move, see all you can nonsense?
Just have fun. |

Thanks a lot for the suggestion???? It's exactly what I asked for, I'll definately try that out!.........
Anyways due to the fact that I only get 14 days paid vacation for the year, I guess I better do nothing with them based on your thoughts. The reason I am doing this now is because I want to go back to other parts of Southeast asia at the end of my contract when I have longer periods of time for a month or more. Right now this is all the time I am alloted so I chose to go to places where people told me you only need to go for 3 or 4 days such as Bangkok and Phuket. |

I have to agree with Jajude...15 days is an extremely tight schedule to see what you want. I would suggest sticking to one country and seeing what you can in that time. In 15 days, you can see quite a lot of Cambodia, although if you head down to Sihanoukville, you may not want to leave. Three days in Siem Reap is more than enough.
If you do decide to go between Thailand and Cambodia, I would fly, not only to save time but just for comfort sake. The road to the border from Siem Reap to Thailand is hell...it was 9 hours of potholes on a small, unaircon bus.
My suggestion would be to either fly directly into Siem Reap (korean air and asiana both have direct flights) or into Bangkok and stay in the country you choose, i.e. 3 days Siem Reap, bus to Phenom Phen, 3 or 4 days there then bus it down to Sihanoukville for some real relaxation. Then bus back to Siem Reap to fly out. |
