okay okay i've read all the new visa regs, and I know that i'll have to go to Japan to get a visa for my new school. but i still have one quick question:
my last official day of work is Feb 10th ( a sunday) so realistically, i'll get my Letter of Release on Feb 11th. I start my new job on February 11th. Will it be okay for me to go to immigration to cancel my visa on the same day that I'm starting my new job? I know I get around 2 weeks to get my new visa. |

I was told it takes a couple of days to cancel a visa. I had to do it last time to ensure that i could get my visa taken care of. Think I flew outta Incheon around the 17th of August and was told I would be clear for a new one the next week. |

I have been accepted for a new Uni position. My current Uni said they would give me a release letter for the first part of Feb. At the new Uni the contract will be for March 1st. This is a transfer of a visa (or so I was told). between the time I am released from my first uni and the time I start my new one, am I ina limbo? Do I have to surrender my ARC and get a new one after March 1st? After my current uni releases I am then no longer on an E2 and will have to leave Korea and then come back on the new contract? Very confusing
sorry, I dont mean to hijack the OP's thread, I just did not want to start a new one when the question was related |

Get all your documents ready so that your new employer can apply for your new E-2 (Original diploma, transcripts, signed contract etc.) - not sure about criminal background and medical check at this stage.
As soon as your current employer gets the letter of release to immigration, get the new place to apply for a new visa (they can't do it until you get that letter of release).
After the letter of release, you have 30 days to leave Korea. This means you should have plenty of time to get your visa issuance number for your new E-2 and then get your new place to arrange your visa run to Japan. It usually takes around 7-10 days to get the issuance number.
Just make sure your new place gets that application for a visa in pronto after you get your release. You don't wan't to end up making a pointless trip out of the country just to avoid overstaying. |

Yeah, if anyone noted the time of my last post, it's shortly after midnight on new year's eve/day. I'm at home, not out celebrating.
Why?
Because I'm a miserable f@ck. Alright?
Crappy new year!
(I'm not really unhappy, just tired and ill-couldn't be @rsed to go out). |
