i checked out this machine...

can anyone tell me difference between these 2 cpu's? (IE. which is faster)

1. 1.5ghz Pentium Celeron M CPU (Selling Here)

2. 1.86ghz Intel Centrino

Here is the other machine I am thinking of...

Cpu = 1.86ghz Intel Centrino

A Centrino CPU is just a rebranded Pentium M. The only difference between the Celeron M and Centrino is that the Centrino has a little bit more cache and has the speedstep function (saves battery when computer not being used heavily...doesn't make a vey big difference ). At the same speed, the performance will be almost the same. The extra cache only makes a difference if you are doing lots of encoding. Games and most apps will run exactly the same.

Either way the differences aren't that great but the Centrino @ 1.86ghz will be slightly faster. As always, just do a quick search in google if you want more info.

I had a celeron 1.5 (or maybe 1.6) in a notebook a few years ago. I was amazed that I was able to do some simple video editing on it, even. Certainly fast enough for web, word processing, etc.

It's more important that you have at least 1 gig of Ram in there. 1.5 even better.

That's not a bad price.
