I have DWI on my record along with a few other traffic violations. Will I be denied when going through immigration due to these violations?

I have read posts that go both ways on this topic but have not found a definite answer. Thanks

A dui here is considered reason for a visa refusal. The fact that you put other people's lives at risk to save on cab fare shows an immense lack of judgement on your part.

Sorry

It depends on the Immigration officer. It seems (given my experiences and those of others who have posted) that each office is a law unto itself.

I don't think you'll be denied ENTRY. You may however be denied issuance of a E-2 visa. You don't have to submit a CBC to enter Korea, just to get the visa.

Also depends on when it happened/where.

If you are from the USA and got a DWI when young in one state, and then moved to another state- then a CBC from the second state will likely not show the charge (correct me if I am wrong please).

If it actually shows up on you record, I couldn't say what the result would be. Do we have any cases to go by yet, beyond hearsay?

I've asked this before and no one can give a credible (cited) answers:

What kind of infractions will bar people from getting an E-2 visa?

Are there any set rules?

Furthermore, there was a discussion in another thread an someone said arrests show up on FBI background checks (which often do according to the FBI website). But will arrests bar people from getting an E-2? If so, think about that for a minute. A man is arrested, but innocent, and found to be innocent by a judge or jury. Yet he has an arrest on his record.

I fear for those people as Korean immigration has no idea what it is doing and what the US embassy does (see: Korea saying US embassy provides BGCs and fingerprinting). I have no faith that Korea will know the difference between "arrest" and "conviction."
