Just as the title says, a friend of ours called from Korea to speak with my wife and while we were talking she asked me that if someone says " i love you" do you say "me too" or "you too" ? I said what? where did you get that from? she lived in Canada for about 8 years and she basically knew that it was me too but, she has this friend in Korea that said it's "you too" because an English teacher she had who went to Harvard or Princeton or something like that told her it was "you too". It didn't matter to her friend that our friend spent about 8 years in Canada and her friend has never been out of Korea that she knew a bit more than her. Her friend would not budge because she believed that her English teacher who studied at Harvard or whatever was right. Anyone else experience this kind of thinking? |

I say "you, too."
As in "[I love] you, too."

Both sound kind of like dodges. It's not much classier than saying "Yeah" or "I know" or "You're not going to spend the night, are you?" |

If I say to someone - "I love you"..
and they reply "me too"...
isn't that the same as the person saying "I love myself too" ??
example...
person one - I love chocolate
person two - me too!
(therefore both person one + two love chocolate) |

I do not AUTOMATICALLY say anything.
Other: I love you.
Me: You, too.*
* Or "I love you, too." "나도." "사랑해." "나도 사랑해." "Reallllly?" "I know." "Of course you do." "What do you love about me?" "I love your ________." And so on and so forth. |

Well, they are replying that they love you too, not that they love themselves. Isn't that what it is?? |

OK, well, you're weird and apparently your wife doesn't care that you're a selfish twit who loves yourself rather than her. |

Lemme get this straight: the chick arguing with your friend went to an Ivy League school, but never left Korea? The whole op is a bit confusing
If someone said:"I like puppies!" , then yes,"me too" is a perfectly acceptable answer expressing agreement
If someone said "I love you" and you said "me too" that would be odd, as the statement doesn't call for agreement, but for the feeling to be reciprocated. ( Same with "have a good day", for a less emotionally loaded example)
Oh and Racetraitor, I think "you too" is a perfectly acceptable response to " I love you" in certain circumstances. Lots of people say "I love you" and not "goodbye" when talking to their spouse on the phone. When it's as routine as that, it's fine. |

Now why would you respond like that? I can't ask a question? you have to call someone names? Don't insult someone just because they ask a question. I've heard many, many people say "me too" not "you too" actually, I haven't heard that before , or at least I don't remember. |
