If anybody has a job with oodles of vacation time, preferably a Uni position, which starts in May..........
Please pm me or post a reply on this thread.
And, as for any replies on here which suggest I am silly for asking this, they can swallow their pride and admit they secretly wanted to post this thread but didn't have the courage to do so! |

I currently work at a high school. 16 Semesters are classes (when not taken up by a school activity or exams) and I get 10 weeks off. I'm currently on week #3.
I will teach for 9 days 25 hours at my school this month for extra pay. Not that I care, since I arranged my classes to start at noon or after so I can sleep in.
Next semester my classes will start no earlier than 10am.

not silly at all to ask... but perhaps silly to think that any uni jobs hire for a May start
try for March or September. |

Dreamer... Uni starts in March.
You know, sometimes dream jobs (or whatever) do drop into your lap, but they usually happen after years (months, if you're lucky) of networking. Then there's the spade work that goes into building up a resume of qualifications and experience. In general, the harder you work - the luckier you are.

Those of us who have jobs with "oodles of vacation time" are going to be very careful who we recommend to our schools. If a new teacher turns out to be a useless tosser, the faculty is likely to blame the teacher who recommended said tosser to the school for any problems the new person might create. Why would anyone take such a risk for a message board stranger? Really, Why? Most of us use our advance knowledge of openings to get job interviews for our friends, and then we tend to be careful about which friends we recommend.
I would be interested to know what job leads you pick up from this novel approach. If you are really serious about getting a good job, get some qualifications or experience that will make you attractive to potential employers, maybe you could have highlighted some of your attractions in the post. You might well be a bright and bubbly person, but that alone is not going to get you the kind of job you are asking for, and sad-ass begging is not at all attractive. |

Dead on target jinks.
This is especially true:

The University I work for hires mostly through referals. They also keep a list of CVs that they received all year long.
No one in their right mind would pick someone off a discussion board and refer them for a position where they work.
You also need references, credentials and qualifications to get the jobs you are looking for.
So far all you have shown is a post that hints you are looking for an easier ride. You sure did not discuss any of your credentials or qualifications....
Also, a very basic thing here when looking for such jobs is to do a little leg work and research and figure out when they hire and what they require. You want a shortcut on here.
I hope you get that short-cut but as jinks said most of us in these "vacation rich" jobs would not recommend some anonymous poster on a discussion board.
Good luck mate. |

Well, to be fair, I do it. But I base it on posting history and comments about teaching. I've pm'd a number of people on this board over the years to see if they were looking for work. |

OK Beaver,
I stand corrected...posting history and overall impression could lead to an inquiring pm....I have been tempted to do so a few times in here. |

Although I've never taught in Korea, I would have thought that a DELTA or Trinity Dip would be a good start for securing a Uni Job... Certainly not frowned upon in the UK, China or Saudi for that matter. |

It is a good thing to have noodles.
It complements other required credentials and qualifications such as a M.A. for example and relevant experience as well as good references. |

You should be my friend. I'm from North America.
Being that Koreans love my accent so much (or lack of one), I just sit in my house and they pay me extra money to be here. I don't have to work. The Korean government just pays me.
I make 6 million won per month on the condition that I don't work for anyone.
They're just happy to have me here, and are thrilled whenever I walk to the corner and talk to people at the grocery store.
I'm the talk of the entire area. Everyone is proud that their Gu has a foreigner who speaks English with a North American accent.

Nope.
I just want to work with people who I think are good. We have plenty of applicants come hiring time but all anybody knows about them is what comes out at the interview. |
