I'm going to be starting work in Seoul in March, and the job doesn't provide accommodation so I'm starting to look at apartments in the area. The nearest subway station to my workplace is Ewha.
I've read this thread and the FAQs, which have been helpful - the consensus seems to be that one can get a small apartment in the area for around W500,000 a month (what I'd be reasonably happy paying), or a bigger one in the Itaewon/Noksapyeong area.
I'll investigate both options, though I'd like to live nearby so I can walk or cycle to work. Has anyone used a trustworthy budongsan in the Sinchon/Ewha/Ahyeon area?
Also, ideally I'd like to go with a landlord that owns the building (as opposed to the bank owning it), so if s/he goes bankrupt I can get my key money back - is there any easy way to check this? |

Aside from a personal recommendation, the best thing is to walk or ride your bike around the streets and just go in each budongsan, or write down the numbers and call them up later. |

And if you can't speak Korean, have someone with you who can. I've never seen a real estate agent who could speak English. |
