Peenie and Gynie are saved!!!! God has answered our prayers and brought us an angel in the form of Eileen, who is providing the cats with a home long enough for us to begin allergy treatments for our daughter!
Thank you so much Eileen, and to everyone else who offered their help!

You kitties do look like sweethearts, I hope they find a good home.
But just wondering... why the clippers and shaving? I ask because I've never heard of shaving a cat before, except for medical reasons. |

I want your cats, but the other half is afraid of cats......
and, yes, why do you shave them? |

Actually, before these two I never considered shaving a cat! But I looked into it a couple years ago when we were having some unusual warm winter weather in Canada and the cats were shedding more than usual. That problem turned out to be temporary but when we came to Korea we decided to give it a try. It has been great - their fur grows in pretty quickly and there is never a hairball to be found! But that would be completely optional for whomever decides to take them - personal preference. They don't need to be shaved, is what I am saying.
And, alas, I thought we had a home for them in Seoul but it turns out the apartment owners there wouldn't allow pets. So, they are still here, and we hate it, but we have to keep them away from everything baby-related by locking them in the laundry room. Poor kitties.. I love them so much and hate to have to let them go, but I hope someone will be able to take them! |

Some cats, such as persians, should be shaved at least yearly, if there are hair problems. My sister has raised Persians for nearly 20 years.

*Clipping Your Persian: Choosing A Style
Clipping your Persian can make it more comfortable in hot weather, shorten bathing/drying time, prevent hair balls and lessen the amount of hair on the furniture. And you have quite a variety of hair clip styles you can choose from.

Wow, Bassexpander, where did you get that avatar picture?
I would love to take them, but I am sorry to say that we are both in the wrong country as I won't get cats or any pets until I settle down in my home country. I just have to leave Korea very soon and can't accommodate these 2 darlings for an international trip to many countries in my transient lifestyle.
I hope they find someone to love them. |

I would ask everyone who sees this post, even if they aren't interested in the cats themselves, to please ask their friends. We won't leave them with a Korean family, given their irrational but inherent fear of cats, and the only offers we have had come from Jeju, which could mean an 11-hour ferry ride. Our daughter has recently begun breaking out in allergy-related rashes, and if we can't do something with them very soon, it breaks our heart but we will probably have to bring them to be euthanized in the next few days,.
Anyone? anyone - please. We love these cats so much and this is tearing us up.
Thank you. |
Before you have them killed, maybe you should consider having them sent back home to your country where your family/friends could help by either putting ads up or putting them in a no-kill shelter. I don't think it costs that much to send them back. You shipped them to Korea, right?
In the meantime, isn't there any medicine to give your child and are you absolutely 100% sure that it's the cats your child is allergic to?
I use to see a dietary nutritionist who specialized in protein and medical related illnesses. He claimed that most people who are allergic to animals have either a problem with processing protein or they are getting way way too much of it in their diet. He suggested consuming far less protein and this solved the problem. It's the animal dander that is high in protein as is bee stings and poisenous snake bites. Try doing a little more internet research on this topic. Don't take my word for it! Just do a little more research and this might help your child right now. |

Are half-Korean families okay? |
