Hi,
I'm something of a movie geek. 2007 supposedly was the best year for movies in quite a long time... can't believe all the flicks I missed.
In particular, I am dying to see No Country For Old Men (love the Coen brothers, and Cormac McCarthy's my favorite writer) and There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson is basically my hero). I've seriously been waiting years to see these movies.
No Country is a favorite to win the Oscar for Best Picture, and There Will Be Blood stars Daniel Day Lewis (who's the favorite to win Best Actor) and is being called an American classic, but I wouldn't call either mainstream... not like Beowulf or Hitman or the other movies that have come to Korea. No Country came out a few months ago, Blood came out last week.
Does anyone know where I can see these flicks (or Eastern Promises, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, Atonement, Michael Clayton, Juno, Superbad, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, 3:11 to Yuma, etc.)?? Are there any websites for all movies being shown in Korea? What about Japan? I seriously will go to Japan to see There Will Be Blood.
Now onto television... as an American sports fan from New England, I'm dying to watch the Patriots (football) and the Celtics (basketball), at least in the playoffs. Are American sports available anywhere? Where can I find out? And dear god, what do I do during baseball season??? |

Funny you should post about torrents... I'm a computer moron and have been trying to figure out how to download torrents all day. I click on a torrent to download, it takes one second and says it's downloaded, then I can't find it anywhere (and it obviously didn't download in the first place).
Anyway, thanks, but I'm really anxious to watch live sports and movies that haven't yet come out on DVD... anyone know about American sports in Korea??? |

First you need something called a bittorrent client. Search google for uTorrent, download and install.
Go to your favoured torrent site - isohunt.com is a good one - and search for a torrent. Choose one which has a high number next to s (or seed) and l (or leech). This means a lot of people are downloading the file, and therefore it will download faster for you.
When you download the torrent, hopefully your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) will give you the option of saving it to disk or opening it with uTorrent. Open it with uTorrent. After a minute or so it will start downloading the full media file. It will save it to a default location somewhere in your My Documents folder (exact location varies with operating system). When the file is 100% downloaded, you can right click on it in uTorrent and select "Open Containing Folder".
I hope this helps.
If the file doesn't play, or it plays with sound only and no video, search for and install VLC media player. Open the file with VLC media player. |
