For Australians applying for the E-2 post Dec. 15. from Australia.
What exactly have you had to do in terms of the steps required (details please) and has anyone completed the process?

My wife and I are almost at the end of the process under the new regs. Our passports are at the Embassy in Canberra at the moment- because of their extra vacation time for the NY- December 29-Jan 2! I will call them tomorrow morning and check on the progress.
We got our police checks from the AFP, having downloaded the form from the site. We sent this to DFAT in Melbourne (there is an office in each state capital), and had an apostille attached (paying extra for the ribbon and seal, as this is the sort of thing Koreans seem to need to make something official!).
This was sent with our medical self check, sealed transcripts (less than 90 days old) and original degrees and some photos to Korea- along with the signed contract and copies of our passports and CV's.
The school used this to get our visa issuance number, which they emailed to me. I applied for the AFP check on November 29, and sent the completed paperwork to Korea on December 13 by courier. The VIN took about a week to get, as we were the first to apply unde rthe new rules at the Daejeon Immigration Office.
The total cost for the two of us: Transcripts, apostilles, AFP checks, visa fees, and postage comes out at a little under AU$400.
We will wait and see how the actual visa issuance goes! |

I won't jump thru these hoops.
I have sent off $132.00 for an Fed Police check...I await a reply. BUT I"VE BEEN IN KORE FOR 10 YEARS, the thing is nuts. In the meantime I've decided that it's just not worth it.
It's just too demeaning.
It all offends my sensibilities. |
