|
|
I went to Homeplus for some groceries today and the cashier kept saying something about a point card. I thought she asked if I had one so I kept saying no. I don't know how but I got a point card.
Question: How does it work? What does it do? I assume I'll be saving money or something...
Can some please explain to me? Thanks! |

You use it to get points when you buy things in any HomePlus.
You also get mailing once in a while with coupons inside.
That's about it. |

Go to the service counter's Family Card section. You show them your ARC and they'll assist you in completing the application form. The next thing you know, you'll have a point card (conveniently referred to as either "Po-een-tuh Ka-du" or "Pae-mil-lee Ka-du" in Korean) about the size of a credit card along with a tiny point card to attach to your key ring. Use the thing every time you make a purchase at Home plus, either in the main store itself or at one of the concessionaires in the building and you'll rack up the points. When you've earned enough points to get a bonus, the cashier will tell you to visit the service counter again. The bonuses vary from foodstuffs to some neat trinkets during holiday seasons. |

Ahh, I see. Cool! Thanks. Yeah she gave me this form. All I did was write down my name and ARC number and she handed me a point card. I didn't write down my address or anything though.
thanks everyone! |

She was a great cashier. I used to buy between 200,000 and 300,000 won worth of groceries at once. I always went to the same cashier, and she would almost always ask me if I had a point card. I finally got one and they started mailing me coupons for 5,000 won (useful for any purchase) and other things. Once I had an old bag try to give my long reciept to some lady behind me! She thought I was stupid and did not know what was going on, I let her manager know because emart is owned by TESCO, and the big guys speak English. |

haha did the old bag get in trouble? Yea the cashier was nice today. It's not my first time at homeplus. I do shop there often but was never offered a point card either! I never bothered going to the service center to get one because I thought it would involve too much trouble since I don't know any Korean. |

E-Mart isn't owned by Tesco. They are competitors. |

Unlike E-Mart - where once you have earned 10,000won points and you can just go to the service counter and ask for a 10,000won coupon - which is given to you immediately...
Homeplus... is the same - however you only get the coupons 4 (four) times a year - mailed to you....
Once is in mid-January - if you have more than 2,000won in points they will mail you the coupons..
Once is in mid-April - if you have more than 2,000won in points they will mail you the coupons..
Once is in mid-July - if you have more than 2,000won in points they will mail you the coupons..
Once is in mid-October - if you have more than 2,000won in points they will mail you the coupons..
If they mail you the coupons - they are yours to spend at the store (same as in Cash) - whenever you want - but if you DO NOT want the coupons simply return them to the cashier - and they will take them and give you your points back...
Homeplus is the same as E-mart - you have to spend at least 1,000,000won at their stores just to accumulate 10,000won...
(usually takes me 4 months just to get a 10,000won coupon - and I spend 350,000won at Homeplus each month on groceries and accessories)....
BUT Homeplus rules... (the one at Jamsil does) its much better than E-mart and Lotte Mart.... |
